Solaas Hits Flush to Double

Level 17 : 5,000/10,000, 0 ante

Ramakrishnan limped the button and Solaas check from the small blind and the dealer spread a {q-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{k-Diamonds} flop.

Solaas checked it over to Ramakrishnan who decided to bet pot (20,000) and Solaas called before checking again on the {10-Diamonds} turn.

Ramakrishnan fired out another pot-sized bet of 60,000 and Solaas called once more to bring the action to the {2-Clubs} river.

This brought a third check from Solaas and another pot bet from Ramakrishnan. His Norwegian opponent check-raised all-in and Ramakrishnan called but mucked when Solaas turned over {a-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{j-Spades}.

Solaas Wins Some, Then Loses Some

Level 16 : 4,000/8,000, 0 ante

Espen Solaas won the first hand of heads up after min-raising the button with Raj Ramakrishnan just flat calling from the small blind.

Ramakrishnan led out for full pot on the {3-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} flop and Solaas called leaving himself with around 200k behind. That was all the betting for the hand after the {7-Clubs} hit the turn, with the action checking through to the {10-Clubs} river.

Ramakrishnan rolled over {k-Spades}{k-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{q-Clubs} for a pair of kings, but Solaas, holding {7-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}{6-Spades} had improved to tow pairs on the turn and a better two pairs on the river to take the hand and climb to just under 300k.

However, Ramakrishnan clawed this back with interest the very next hand after limping the button. Solaas check the small blind and the flop came down {3-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{3-Clubs}. The action was checked through to the {a-Diamonds} which Ramakrishnan bet for 16,000 after Solaas checked and then called.

The {8-Hearts} river brought in the {8-Hearts} and Solaas again check-called Ramakrishnan's bet of 50,000 but mucked when the Australian player rolled over {2-Spades}{4-Spades}{10-Spades}{9-Clubs} for the straight.

Dzmitry Urbanovich Eliminated in 3rd Place (AUD$42,770)

Level 16 : 4,000/8,000, 0 ante
Dzmitry Urbanovich
Dzmitry Urbanovich

Raj Ramakrishnan limped in from the small blind for 8,000 and big blind Dzmitry Urbanovich raised to 23,000. Ramakrishnan came over the top for 69,000 and Urbanovich called in position.

The flop came {5-Hearts}{9-Spades}{K-Hearts} and Ramakrishnan bet 100,000, or announced pot - that we don't know. Urbanovich shoved all of his chip to the middle and Ramakrishnan added some more towers of chips to get to showdown.

Raj Ramakrishnan: {A-Spades}{K-Spades}{7-Spades}{2-Hearts}
Dmitry Urbanovich: {A-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}

The {5-Diamonds} on the turn and {8-Spades} on the river did not help Urbanovich and the Pole had to settle for third place, worth AUD$42,770.

Timely Double for Solaas

Level 16 : 4,000/8,000, 0 ante

Just as he was getting short Espen Solaas managed to find a double courtesy of Dzmitry Urbanovich.

It was Solaas who started the action with a raise to 28,000 from the button and after Raj Ramakrishnan got out of the way Urbanovich and Solaas got into a brief raising war with all the chips going in preflop. With the short stack of 98,000 it was Solaas who was the at risk player and he would need to hit the flop hard to avoid elimination.

Espen Solaas: {j-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{8-Spades}
Dzmitry Urbanovich: {k-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{j-Spades}

Urbanovich's pair of kings were in front preflop and on the flop of {7-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{6-Spades} but Solaas had all kinds of outs and duly hit one of them when the {7-Diamonds} landed on the turn to give him trips. The {4-Clubs} river ended the hand and saw Solaas scoop the pot to draw back level in chips with Urbanovich.

More for Ramakrishnan

Level 16 : 4,000/8,000, 0 ante

Raj Ramakrishnan limped in from the small blind and Dzmitry Urbanovich checked. Ramakrishnan check-called 16,000 on {K-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} before leading 48,000 on the {9-Diamonds} turn. Urbanovich called but ran down his 20 seconds when Ramakrishnan bet pot for 144,000 on the {A-Clubs} river and folded.

Urbanovich won some back from Espen Solaas in a three-bet pot where Solaas check-folded the flop to Urbanovich's pot bet.

A huge hand played out between Espen Solaas and Raj Ramkrishnan with the latter managing to bag a double up through the Norwegian player to snatch the chip lead.

Preflop it was Solaas who was the aggressor, opening to 20,000 from the button. Ramakrishnan made the call from teh small blind and Dzmitry Urbanovich got out of the way to take play heads-up to a flop of {4-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}.

First to act Ramakrishnan announced a pot-sized bet of 48,000. Solaas looked over at his opponent and slid it two towers of dark blue 5k chips to put Ramakrishnan all-in. Ramakrishnan called instantly and the cards were turned over.

Raj Ramakrishnan: {4-Spades}{4-Hearts}{5-Spades}{j-Hearts}
Espen Solaas: {a-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{10-Spades}

Ramakrishnan was in front with middle set and stayed that way when the turn and river came down a diamond-less {k-Spades}, {9-Clubs} to grant him the double and the chip lead.
