The Big Game Down Under

Over in the corner of the high-limit area, Melbourne's version of the "Big Game" has come together in the last few hours. A cast of characters including David Grey, Michael Tomeny, Kenny Tran and Amnon Filippi are playing a $400-$800 mixed game while chowing down on a veritable buffet of Chinese food that was just delivered to the table. A few feet over, Tony G is taking on Niki [Removed:552] in a friendly little heads-up PLO match, with each of them sitting behind towers of aqua $1,000 chips. No chinese food for them, though.

Team PokerNews Player Andrew Makary called a 2,500 pre-flop bet from the small blind and saw a {Q-Hearts}

flop. He then passed the first action to his opponent (and original raiser) Jason Brown, who led out with a 5,000 bet. Makary then min-raised to 10,000 and was countered by another bet from Brown which put Makary all in.

Andrew called off his last 32,000 worth of chips and tabled a pocket pair of jacks for a set - well ahead of Brown's A-10 double gutter. The lead was short-lived however, as the {9-Diamonds}

fell off on the turn, giving Brown a queen-high straight. Makary still had ten outs with one card to go, but the {6-Hearts}
