Lee Nelson Stumbles

An early position player raises it up to 100 with Lee Nelson in the cutoff and the player on the button making the call.

The flop brings {6-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{6-Spades} and the pre-flop raiser leads out for 350. Nelson bumps it up to 700 and his opponent makes the call. The turn is the {2-Hearts} and Nelson bets 1,500 but his opponent check-raises all in for all of his chips. Nelson makes the call for an additional 1,600 chips.

Nelson: {A-Spades}{2-Spades}
Opponent: {J-Clubs}{J-Hearts}

With a pair and flush draw Nelson has plenty of outs but a red queen on the river leaves Nelson peddling the short stack.

Celina Lin
Celina Lin got all of her money in with a straight on a three-spade flop and was challenged by an opponent who gave her action holding just the ace of spades. The turn brought air, but a fourth spade hit the board on the river, sending Celina to the rail at the end of the first level of play.

Tony Hachem's Bad Beats Continue

After copping a couple of terrible beats yesterday, Tony Hachem has just been hit hard once again. With all the money in pre-flop Hachem was looking pretty with his pocket rockets well ahead of the pocket jacks of Richard Holmes. However a third jack on the flop sent Hachem into a spin, leaving him crippled while Richard Holmes reeled in a pot worth 8,000 chips!

Emad, Out.

Emad Tahtouh
Emad Tahtouh
A short-stacked Emad Tahtouh moved all in for his last 700 holding A-Q on a 10-4-4 board and was called by an opponent who tabled pocket twos. The turn and river blanked out and Emad found himself an early casualty of Day 1.

Richard Holmes Early Chip Leader

Richard Holmes is storming up the leaderboard and leaving the players on his table in a state of disbelief. On a flop of {4-Spades}{6-Clubs}{J-Hearts}, Holmes called the all in of his opponent with pocket kings, but his big pair was trailing the two pair of his opponent who held {4-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}. However Holmes comes from behind again to spike a {J-Spades} on the turn for a better two pair. Holmes has catapulted to over 15,000 in chips to claim the tournament chip lead!

The Castigation of Chronis

Australian fasion designer Christopher Chronis is trying his luck in today's pot-limit holdem event, but apparently no one told him that he couldn't take business calls at the table. Chronis reportedly answered a phone call at the table and was issued a five-minute penalty by the tournament staff.

Chronis, who owns a number of Playboy Shops around the world, is scheduled to hold his 50th birthday party at Hugh Hefner's Playboy Mansion in three year's time. A decent poker player as well, Chronis put up a 40th place finish at last year's Aussie Millions Main Event.
