Stavropoulos Doubles Up

Manny Stavropoulos has just doubled through Richard Holmes. Holmes opened the action from the cutoff, raising it up to 900 and Stavropoulos shoved all in from the blinds for 2,775 in total. Holmes made the call and the cards were tabled:

Stavropoulos: {A-Hearts}{K-Spades}
Holmes: {A-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}

The board of {Q-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{J-Spades}{7-Spades} gave Stavropoulos a badly needed double up!

Jimmy "gobboboy" Fricke Eliminated

An early position player made the initital raise to 700 and Jimmy Fricke moved all in for his last 2,500 chips. The action folded around to Gary Benson in the big blind who woke up with pocket kings and insta-called. The original raiser stepped aside and Fricke was left needing help with {A-Hearts}{J-Spades}.

The board of {2-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{4-Spades}{K-Hearts} didn't help Fricke and he was eliminated while Benson moves up to over 9,000 in chips.

Sarah Bilney Eliminated

Sarah Bilney got her last 3,000 into the middle holding pocket kings and appeared to be in phenomenal shape against an opponent's pocket threes, but an unlucky three on the river put an early end to "Aussie Sarah's" tournament.

Mick "The Hoon" Doubles Up

On a flop of {2-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} Mick led out with a bet of 800 and his opponent made the call. The turn came {J-Diamonds} and Mick shoved the rest of his 1,825 chips into the middle. His opponent made the call holding {K-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} for a monster draw but Mick was well in front holding {5-Spades}{5-Clubs} for top set. With threats of taking his opponent for a "long drive" if he sucked out, "The Hoon" was happy when the river blanked and he doubled up!

Graeme "Kiwi G" Putt Eliminated

Graeme "Kiwi G" Putt Eliminated
Graeme "Kiwi G" Putt saw a cheap flop with two other opponents holding pocket fours and was delighted to spike a set on a flop of {5-Spades}{4-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}. Putt led out for 600, received one caller, before the player in seat 7 makes a minimum raise to 1,200. Putt then pops it up to 5,000, causing the middle player to fold. Seat 7 the re-pots it and Putt makes the call for his final 3,200. Amazingly Putt's opponent flipped {6-Clubs}{3-Spades} for the flopped nut straight! Unable to pair the board on the turn or river, Putt finds himself heading to the rail in unfortunate fashion.

Benson Loses Ruling and Pot

With the board reading {K-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{J-Hearts}{5-Diamonds} Gary Benson fired out a 3,000 chip bet on the river. His opponent tossed out his chips, but only 2,500 of them, and flipped his card to reveal the straight with {10-Hearts}{Q-Spades}. Benson is upset that his opponent didn't put enough into the pot before exposing his cards and calls for a tournament director to make a ruling on the validity his opponent's call. It is understood that Benson believed that his opponent had not made an appropriate call and by revealing his cards that his hand is now dead. The TD determines that in the best interests of the game that the call is valid and Benson mucks his hand.
