Francisco Riservato opened to 800 from the cutoff and was called by Song Yu on the button and Moussa Issa in the big blind.

Issa checked to Riservato, who bet 1,000 on the 826 flop. Both Yu and Issa called.

The 5 fell on the turn and Issa checked again, prompting another 1,000 bet from Riservato. Yu made it 3,500 to go, which got a cold call from Issa and a fold from Riservato.

The K completed the board and Issa checked a final time. Yu thought better of it and checked back only to have Issa reveal 97 for the turned straight. Yu sent his hand into the muck and Issa was sent the pot.

Lui is Flush With Chips

Level 2 : Blinds 200/400, 400 ante

Heads-up with several thousand already in the middle, Domenic Galati checked from the big blind to Erping Lui, who fired 4,000 into the middle. Galati called.

Both players checked on the 2 turn and Galati checked a final time after the J filled the river. Lui cut out a bet of 12,000 and placed it into the middle, which Galati called after a bit of thought.

Lui turned over 76 for a flush and Galati sent his hand into the muck to award Lui the large pot.

Inaugural APO Main Event Champion Hasan Onay
Inaugural APO Main Event Champion Hasan Onay

Welcome to the 2025 Australian Poker Open, which is already underway with players from across the globe gathering at Club Marconi at Doltone House Western Sydney to take part in the $4,000,000 AUD guaranteed series. The crown jewel of the series — the APO Main Event — continues today with Day 1d and features an increased guaranteed prize pool of $1,500,000 (up from $1,000,000 in 2024) due to the resounding success of last year's main event, which smashed the guarantee after attracting 549 players and generating a $1,457,100 prize pool. Today marks the fourth of six starting flights and is scheduled to get underway at 3 p.m. local time.

Last year, Hasan "Huss" Onay overcame the odds to become the inaugural APO Main Event Champion and take home a cool $284,480 after making a deal with runner-up Higor Seibel.
