Prill Bets Big

Level 2 : Blinds 200/400, 400 ante

Timon Prill opened to 1,000 from the hijack and was called by Chen Zhihao on the button and the player in the big blind.

It was checked to Prill, who bet 1,000 on the AK6 flop. Zhihao called and the big blind folded.

Both players checked on the 8 turn; however, Prill put a t-5,000 chip into the middle after the J completed the board.

Zhihao appeared taken aback by the bet and mulled his decision for a while before eventually deciding to lay his hand down.

Casas' Ace is Best

Level 3 : Blinds 300/600, 600 ante

Jin Xue limped on the button and Chen Zhihao called from the small blind. Alan Casas took a look at Xue's stack before checking his option in the big blind.

Zhihao and Casas checked to Xue, who bet 1,500 on the JJA flop. Zhihao got out of the way, but Casas called.

Both players checked on the 6 turn and then Casas led out for 2,000 on the 5 river.

Xue tossed in a call and Casas tabled A10 for aces-up. Xue sent his hand into the muck upon seeing it and Casas, who has got off to a hot start, added to his stack.

Bean Catches a Queen to Bust Prill

Level 3 : Blinds 300/600, 600 ante

Timon Prill opened on the button and was three-bet by Ron Bean in the small blind. Action folded back around to Prill, who shoved for approximately 30,000 total. Bean called to put Prill at risk and a showdown was held.

Ron Bean: AQ

Prill was in good shape to double, but the dealer fanned out a Q44 flop to vault Bean into the lead with queens-up.

The A turn nor 10 river were of any help to Prill and he was forced to surrender his stack to Bean.

Last year in Sydney, Hasan "Huss" Onay won the 2024 Australian Poker Open Main Event after a heads-up deal with Brazil's Higor Seibel.

Onay entered heads-up with a dominating chip lead, with Seibel managing to double once, before the players agreed to a deal.

The 549-player tournament took place at Doltone House Western Sydney at Club Marconi, with Onay taking home A$284,480 and the inaugural APO Main Event title.

Seibel Flushes Morvan Out

Level 4 : Blinds 400/800, 800 ante
Higor Seibel
Higor Seibel

Higor Seibel opened to 1,600 from middle position and was called by Romain Morvan on the button.

Seibel checked to Morvan, who bet 1,600 on the J710 flop. Seibel paused before making it 6,000 to go. Undeterred, Morvan came back over the top with a raise to 21,600 — leaving himself just 4,000 behind. Seibel called.

The A fell on the turn and Seibel led out for 4,000 to put Morvan all in. Morvan obliged and hands were revealed.

Higor Seibel: 65

Morvan was in rough shape against Seibel's turned flush and would need to draw to an unlikely full house to double up. It wasn't meant to be, however, as the 7 river bricked out — sending the large pot Seibel's way and eliminating Morvan.

Seibel, who placed runner-up in the Main Event last year, now sits with approximately 70,000 in chips and will be looking to make another deep run.

Seymour Sends Endersby Packing

Level 4 : Blinds 400/800, 800 ante
Marc Seymour
Marc Seymour

Marc Seymour raised from early position and was three-bet to 5,500 by Travis Endersby on the button. It was folded back around to Seymour, who called.

The flop came J98 and Seymour checked to Endersby, who continued for 5,000. Seymour raised enough to put Endersby all in and Endersby called all in for approximately 40,000 total.

Marc Seymour: 98

Endersby got up from his seat after seeing Seymour had flopped two pair and the 28 runout needlessly improved Seymour to a full house for the elimination.
