If at first you don't succeed, try again.

It appears that's the mantra for Bally's poker room after a stumble on Day 1a of Bally's Main Event Mania $1,500 Main Event. The tournament had only a handful of early entries to the staff opted to push all their chips into Day 1b, and the staff expressed confidence the tournament will run as planned today.

As for the game plan, everything remains the same as for the aborted Day 1a. The tournament will offer a single reentry option and a deep structure with 50K in the starting stack and 40-minute levels, starting at 100/100/100. Registration will be open until Level 13. Eight-handed tables and plexiglass dividers will be in use to protect the players and staff.

The winner will not only earn a nice payday, but points toward the series leaderboard that will award a seat into the 2021 WSOP Main Event.

Cards are scheduled to fly at 11 a.m. local time, so stay tuned here to track the tournament's progress when the time comes.

Play has begun for Day 1 of the Bally's Main Event Mania $1,500 Main Event.

The tournament director told the players that the game plan for now is to play to 15% of the field or 15 levels. However, if it's looking possible to play through and finish the event tonight, he did leave that possibility open. It will just depend on the amount of entries and how the play is progressing.

Here's a look at some of the side event winners during the early portion of the Bally's series. Some notable champs included Mike Shin in a $600 no-limit hold'em event ($10,476) and Michael Hahn in a $400 pot-limit Omaha ($7,677).

Brown Off and Running

Level 2 : 100/200, 200 ante

One of the entries showing up a bit after the first cards were pitched is Jeremy Brown.

He recently became involved in a multi-way pot as Roger Vi bet 1,200 from the hijack after one check on {10-Clubs}{9-Spades}{8-Spades}. David Herzog called in the cutoff on the scary board, and Brown made it 3,600 to go on the button. Both Vi and Herzog continued to the {8-Clubs} turn. They checked to Brown, who bet 6,400. Only Herzog called this time, bringing the {7-Spades} river.

Both players quickly checked and Herzog rolled over {a-Spades}{q-Diamonds} but was beaten by {j-Clubs}{10-Spades} for a straight.

Ward Shows Blades

Level 2 : 100/200, 200 ante

One player was freshly sat at Table 10 and instantly three-bet to 1,800 over a 600 from Kevin Ward in the hijack.

"Right away, huh?" Ward asked.

"I'll show just so you know I'm not an asshole," his opponent responded with a laugh.

Ward made it 5,600 to go, though, and that was the price for the {8-Spades}{j-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} flop. The big blind checked and folded to 10,000. Ward showed {a-Spades}{a-Diamonds}.
