Bally's "Main Event Mania" $1,500 Main Event
Day 1b Completed
After a false start on Day 1a of Bally's Main Event Mania $1,500 Main Event, Day 1b went off without a hitch as a small early field grinded away until more than 40 entries showed up to start the prize pool rolling.
When the dust settled, only 14 of those made it through with Day 2 tickets, and the biggest stack by a mile belonged to Lewis Robledo. Despite only $11K in recorded live cashes, Robledo dominated early and often, mixing it up in big pots that enabled him to rocket up to six figures early thanks to cracking aces with six-four offsuit.
Robledo bagged more than 100K clear of his nearest opponent, Ben Moschel (273,500).
Other notables making it through included Viny Lima (156,500) and Roland Israelashvili (100,500).
Lima looked like he might be headed toward the chip lead after an early heater but he swung back and forth between about 180,000 and 100,000 for most of the day. He's coming off a win in a WPT event in 2019 and has shown his ability to beat small Vegas fields before back in 2016 when he won a similar buy-in event at Golden Nugget for about $56K.
Some players busting out included Circuit regs Dan Lowery and Charles Johnson, as well as Jeremy Brown.
Thanks to a late change in the structure of the event, all of those and more will have a final shot at this thing. That's because Bally's staff opted to change the format a bit, cutting the last three levels from Day 1 to keep registration open until Day 2, scheduled for Sunday at 1 p.m. As Venetian's big event has closed registration, there could be a solid late influx come Day 2 time.
Come back to PokerNews tomorrow to see how Bally's Main Event Mania $1,500 Main Event plays out. It's scheduled to go two more days but could end tomorrow depending on the final numbers.

An ace on the flop and another on the turn left him with dust in his stack.

Corel Theuma was all in for 56,000 in the big blind. Adam Walton was in for less from early position, about 40,000. A third player was tanking in the cutoff with 4,000 in front of him, so it looked like Walton opened and got called before Theuma jammed. The third player eventually folded.
