Originally, Bally's Main Event Mania $1,500 Main Event called for Day 1 to play through 15 levels. Now, an altered plan has been put in place.
Instead of 15 levels, just 12 will be played today. That will leave registration open until the start of Day 2, which will remain scheduled for 1 p.m. on Sunday. In theory, that should allow for many more entries as players run out of steam in the other major event taking place in town.
As part of the new plan, tonight's dinner break will be nixed and a normal 15-minute break will instead occur after Level 9.
Over the past couple of weeks, action has continued as Bally's dealt a variety of tournaments in a variety of games to continue Main Event Mania, each one allowing players to accrue points for the festival leaderboard that awards a $10,000 WSOP Main Event seat.
James Poper was one of the winners, taking the last event before Christmas when he shipped the $250 Big O for $4,472.
After Christmas, several more events went down, including a $400 H.O.R.S.E. won by Gary Bolden for $7,987 and a $600 2-7 Triple Draw that went to Denis Nesterenko for $7,702.
