Cates Busts to Bring Everyone into Day 2

Level 17 : 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante
Lester Cates
Lester Cates

On a flop of {7-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{4-Clubs}, all the chips went into the middle and Lester Cates was at risk against Adam Iaccarino.

Cates had flopped a pair of fives and an open-ended straight draw but ran into the flopped straight of Iaccarino, showing {8-Clubs}{6-Hearts}.

Cates was unable to catch up as the board completed with the {k-Clubs} on the turn and the {6-Diamonds} on the river. With his elimination, only 27 players remain and are currently bagging for Day 2.

Nancy Peterman
Nancy Peterman

Carlous Collins raised under the gun to 75,000, Glen Brink called from a couple of spots to his left before Nancy Peterman jammed for her whole stack of 195,000. Collins tossed in one chip to signal a call and after a few moments Brink announced he was all-in for 505,000. Collins asked for a count and eventually tossed his hand into the muck.

Nancy Peterman: {10-Clubs}{10-Spades}
Glen Brink: {a-Hearts}{q-Hearts}

It was a coinflip situation and the board ran out {j-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{2-Spades}{8-Hearts} for Peterman's tens to hold and triple up.

Rosenthal Spikes a King to Stay Alive

Level 16 : 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante
Gary Rosenthal
Gary Rosenthal

Three players had got their chips in the middle before the flop and John Hinney was the shortest stack with a little over 100,000. Gary Rosenthal had the second-highest stack with 165,000.

John Hiney: {a-Spades}{j-Spades}
Gary Rosenthal: {k-Hearts}{j-Hearts}
Button: {q-Clubs}{q-Hearts}

The dealer fanned a flop of {k-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{5-Spades}, giving Rosenthal the lead with a pair of kings. The {7-Diamonds} fell on the turn and the {8-Diamonds} completed the board, sending Hiney to the payout desk and Rosenthal doubled through the third player.

"Yes!" Rosenthal celebrated as he collected the chips.

Under-the-Gun Player: {a-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}
Josh Mordenti: {2-Hearts}{2-Spades}

It was your standard coinflip as the dealer ran out the {q-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{4-Spades}{j-Spades} board and Mordenti's pair of deuces held to bring him over 900,000 in chips.

Matthew McGuire

Four players limped in before Matthew McGuire checked his option.

The dealer fanned a flop of {5-Spades}{3-Hearts}{2-Spades} and McGuire jammed for about 78,000. The player who limped in early position called off his stack of 56,000 and the rest of the table folded.

Early Position: {q-Hearts}{10-Hearts}
Matthew McGuire: {5-Clubs}{4-Hearts}

McGuire had flopped top pair and an open-ended straight draw and the board completed with the {j-Diamonds} on the turn and the {2-Clubs} on the river, eliminating his opponent from the tournament.

Bubelnik Wins Massive Flip

Level 11 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante
Matt Bubelnik
Matt Bubelnik

Matt Bubelnik was seen with his entire 74,500 across the line and he had his opponent at risk for 71,000 before the flop.

Opponent: {3-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}
Matt Bubelnik: {q-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}

It was a classic race as the flop came {9-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{5-Spades}, for the pocket threes to still be in the lead. The {5-Hearts} hit the turn, giving Bubelnik a few more outs as he could counterfeit his opponent and the {q-Clubs} hit the river, improving him to queens and fives.

"Good play, nice hand," his opponent said with sportsmanship as he left the table.
