Day 3 Completed
Day 3 of the €600 Battle of Malta Autumn Edition Main Event at Casino Malta saw the field reduced from 158 returning players to the final 24. After a busy day of action, the remaining contenders secured their spots for Day 4, with the tournament now getting closer to crowning its champion.
The event attracted a massive field of 5,368 entries across nine starting flights, comfortably surpassing its €1.5 million guarantee and generating a total prize pool of €2,413,281. The eventual champion will take home €227,835.
Anton Makejev leads the way heading into Day 4 with 14,000,000, followed closely by Marios Kapiris (13,950,000) and Jakub Skurzynski (13,000,000).

One of the biggest movers of the day was Marco Lopez Coronado, who started with just 1,090,000 chips but managed to turn that into 10,400,000 by the end of play. He made an early move up the counts, reaching 6,200,000 after taking down a pot against Lulei Hu. However, he later lost a sizeable pot to Marios Kapiris, dropping to 3,000,000. Coronado fought his way back, first recovering some chips by eliminating Lorenzo Angeletti with ace-king, before winning an even bigger pot against Jon Kyte with trip kings. Despite being a newcomer to the live poker scene, with his first recorded results on The Hendon Mob dating back to this year, Coronado has already made a strong impression.
Ryan Sweeney also enjoyed a strong day, picking up a big pot with a straight against Maicol D'Arrigo before later holding pocket aces against Giuseppe Signorelli to send him to the rail.
The day also saw the departure of Ivan Sposato, who had started Day 3 as the chip leader after bagging 3,440,000 on Day 2. He ran into Yuri Cornello's ace-king and was unable to improve with ace-queen, ending his run before the final 24.
Play resumes Tuesday, November 3, at 2 p.m. local time for Day 4. It was also announced that the live stream will begin on Day 4, one day earlier than originally planned for the final table. Blind levels will be extended to 90 minutes, with the remaining 24 minutes of Level 30 played before the blinds increase to 100,000/250,000, with a 250,000 big blind ante.
All 24 players have locked up at least €8,950, while the eventual champion will walk away with €227,835 and the Battle of Malta trophy.

Yuri Cornello raised to 1,250,000, leaving himself with just 200,000 behind, and Shai Arbel called from the big blind.
The flop came A♠J♣9♦, and Arbel check-called Cornello's remaining chips.
Yuri Cornello: 7♥7♦
Shai Arbel: A♥10♦
Arbel had flopped top pair, and the 8♦ turn and 6♥ river brought no help for Cornello, bringing Day 3 to an end.
The pot stood at around 3,600,000, and the board was fully dealt, showing 8♥K♠9♠A♣K♥.
Marco Lopez Coronado was first to act from the big blind and moved all in for 3,450,000. Jon Kyte went deep into the tank, and after the clock was called on him, he eventually made the call.
Coronado tabled K♦8♠ for trips kings, while Kyte showed A♦3♥ for top two pair, which was not enough to win the sizeable pot.
The players were all in on the 6♠J♦5♦ flop.
Shai Arbel: 6♦4♦
Yuri Cornello: J♣9♣
Cornello was ahead, but Arbel had plenty of outs. The Q♠ turn changed nothing, but the 3♦ river completed Arbel's flush, securing the double-up and leaving Cornello with just crumbs.
Jon Kyte was all in, and Jakub Skurzynski made the call.
Jon Kyte: 8♣8♠
Jakub Skurzynski: K♥10♣
The flop came 3♥8♥9♣, giving Kyte a set. "Queen of hearts!" Kyte shouted, asking for a sweat for himself, but the 2♦ turn and J♦ river ran clean, securing the double-up for Kyte.
The action was picked up with both players' cards tabled and Lorenzo Angeletti at risk.
Lorenzo Angeletti: K♥J♦
Marco Lopez Coronado: A♦K♣
Angeletti needed some help from the board to stay alive, but the runout of 2♦7♦4♦7♥6♠ offered no help, sending him to the rail. Coronado recovered some of the chips he had lost in the previous hand.
The pot had already grown to around 3,300,000, and the board showed 2♣5♥2♥9♠. Marco Lopez Coronado checked to Marios Kapiris, who bet 1,550,000. Coronado took some time before making the call.
The river brought the K♣, and Coronado checked again. Kapiris took his time before announcing his all-in. Coronado asked for a count, and after the dealer confirmed it was 4,225,000, he eventually made the call.
Kapiris tabled A♥9♣ for two pair, nines and deuces, while Coronado showed 3♣3♦ for a smaller two pair. Kapiris secured the double-up and got a place among the top stacks.
