Pupillo Gets Three Streets

Level 3 : 100/200, 200 ante
Nick Pupillo
Nick Pupillo

A player limped in early position and action folded around to the big blind, where Nick Pupillo raised his option up to 1,400. The limper called, taking action heads up to the flop {k-Hearts}{9-Spades}{7-Clubs}, and Pupillo made a continuation-bet of 1,500. His opponent called.

Pupillo continued with another 4,200 on the turn {7-Diamonds} and was called again. The river {6-Clubs} brought the final street of action, and Pupillo emptied the clip, firing a third barrel for 10,400. His opponent thought for a few moments, reaching for chips to call and putting them into the middle as he mumbled something to the effect of looking up what Pupillo had.

Pupillo was more than happy to show {a-Spades}{k-Clubs}, and his opponent saw all he needed to in order to know his two cards were no good. The player mucked and Pupillo took down the pot, bringing him up over 40,000 before the first break of the day.

A Round of Chip Counts

Jackson Picks Off The Bluff

Level 3 : 100/200, 200 ante
David Jackson
David Jackson

More than 2,000 was in the middle on a board of {6-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{10-Clubs}. Action was heads up, and the big blind fired out 2,000 to put action onto David Jackson, who was in middle position. Jackson matched the bet.

The big blind showed {a-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} for a pair of sixes and Jackson tabled {q-Diamonds}{10-Hearts} for two pair, queens and tens, good to earn him the pot.

Howard Pushes Out His Opponent

Level 2 : 100/200, 0 ante
Taylor Howard
Taylor Howard

Taylor Howard opened the action with a raise to 500 in middle position and received three calls from players in the hijack, on the button, and in the small blind. Action checked through the flop {k-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}.

The turn was {a-Spades} and action checked to the player on the button, who announced a bet of 800. The small blind folded and then Taylor check-raised to 2,100, receiving a fold from the hijack before his final opponent put in chips to call.

The river fell {7-Hearts} and Howard thought for about 30 seconds before reaching for chips and going all in for his opponent's effective stack of just under 20,000. The player on the button took about 10 seconds to think, and then sent his cards to the muck.

"Did you have an ace?" asked Howard as the dealer sent him the pot. His opponent nodded, to which Howard ultimately ceded that he had ace-queen and was trying to push his opponent off of a chop.

Herstein Wins at Showdown

Level 2 : 100/200, 0 ante

More than 2,000 was already in the middle on a flop of {5-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{j-Spades} with three-way action that saw a middle-position player bet 600. The hijack was next to act and called, putting action onto Gary Herstein, who was on the button. Herstein put in a raise to 2,000 and got a fold from the original bettor and a call from the hijack.

The turn came {2-Clubs} and the hijack checked. Herstein continued, firing another 3,000, and the hijack called again. Action then went check-check on the river {7-Spades} to take the hand to showdown, and the two players verbalized their hands thereafter to some degree between one another, with the hijack mucking as Herstein showed only {j-Clubs}, good to earn him the pot with jacks up.

Top Pair Good for Bolte

Level 1 : 100/100, 0 ante
Howard Bolte
Howard Bolte

There was multiway action to a flop of {9-Spades}{k-Hearts}{a-Hearts} that saw three players commit 800 with several others folding. One of those three players was Howard Bolte, who was in the hijack, while his two opponents were on either side of him in the small blind and on the button. Action proceeded to check through both the turn {10-Diamonds} and river {4-Diamonds} thereafter, bringing the hand to showdown.

Bolte turned over {a-Spades}{j-Diamonds} for top pair with a jack kicker and both of his opponents sent their cards to the muck to earn him the early pot.
