The 2021 bestbet Jacksonville Winter Open $2,000 Main Event continues today with Day 1b, the second of two starting flights. Cards are in the air at noon local time and a room full of hopefuls are sure to be in action, looking to add their names to the list of Sunday's Day 2 participants.

Friday's Day 1a drew 195 entries and saw 27 players advance, with Dustin Holladay (365,000) and Ken Stacy (361,000) out in front of the rest, though only narrowly over the trio of Scott Stewart (339,000), Christopher Laieta (336,000), and Justin Zaki (326,000).

Players receive 25,000 in chips to start with blinds starting at 100/100. Fourteen 40-minute levels are on the schedule with 15-minute breaks at the completion of every three levels and a dinner break at the end of Level 9 (approximately 6:30 p.m. local time).

Registration with unlimited re-entries will remain open through the dinner break, closing at the beginning of Level 10 at around 7:30 p.m. local time. At that time, registration for the tournament will officially close and the prize pool and payout information will be announced soon thereafter. All who remain when play finishes at the end of the evening will then punch their tickets into Sunday's Day 2, which will begin at noon again and play down to a winner.

Miller Gets Mashed

Level 2 : 100/200, 0 ante
Howard Mash
Howard Mash

Four players committed 1,600 apiece preflop to see the dealer bring {3-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} on board. Michael Miller was first to act in the small blind and led out with a bet of 2,000. The big blind folded and under the gun called, sending action across the table to Howard Mash in the cutoff. Mash also called.

"Three players," said the dealer, spreading the turn {2-Clubs}. Miller bet another 3,200 and the under-the-gun player called again. Mash looked down at his chips and then announced he was all in for what amounted to be 17,700. Miller called all in for less and then the under-the-gun player asked for confirmation of the number before sending his cards to the muck.

Michael Miller: {k-Clubs}{9-Clubs}
Howard Mash: {a-Hearts}{5-Hearts}

Miller had called it all off with his turned flush draw and ran into a turned wheel. Another club failed to come on the river {3-Diamonds} and he was eliminated while Mash is now over 40,000.

Ha Delivers A Cooler

Level 3 : 100/200, 200 ante
Kevin Ha
Kevin Ha

Under the gun made it 600 to go and Kevin Has three-bet to 2,200 in early position. A couple of folds ensued to put action onto the hijack, who cold four-bet shoved for 18,400. Ha confirmed the amount and then made the call.

All-In Player: {a-Spades}{a-Diamonds}
Kvin Ha: {k-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}

Ha mentioned something along the lines of being unable to fold even before seeing his opponent's hand. Luckily for him, the board ran out {3-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}{k-Hearts}{j-Spades} to give him a set of kings and earn the knockout and nearly-full double.

"Cooler," he added of the situation. "What can you do?"

Santos Cracks Cowboys

Level 4 : 200/300, 300 ante
Josias Santos
Josias Santos

On a board reading {j-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{4-Hearts} with 9,900 already in the center, Josias Santos was all in for his remaining 9,200 from early position and against the player on the button.

Josias Santos: {10-Hearts}{9-Hearts}
Player on the Button: {k-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}

Santos had flopped both a flush draw and open-ended straight draw, the latter of which filled up on the turn {7-Clubs} to leave his opponent's kings drawing dead to the river {3-Spades}. After the double, Santos is back above starting stack with 28,300.

Aces Treat Liberto Well

Level 5 : 200/400, 400 ante
Justin Liberto
Justin Liberto

Justin Liberto was on the button and three-bet a hijack-open of 1,000, making it 2,800 to go. The big blind cold-called and the hijack called as well, taking action three ways to the streets.

The dealer fanned a flop of {6-Clubs}{j-Spades}{2-Diamonds} and action checked to Liberto, who put out a continuation-bet of 2,300. The big blind check-jammed, sliding a stack forward to result in an immediate fold from the hijack and a call from Liberto not much long after.

All-In Player: {a-Spades}{10-Spades}
Justin Liberto: {a-Hearts}{a-Clubs}

The all-in player shrugged when he saw Liberto's bullets, having nothing but a few backdoor possibilities to stay alive. The turn {q-Clubs} left him with four immediate outs to double, but none came on the river {5-Diamonds} and the player was eliminated at Liberto's expense.

Bond Spotted With A Big Stack

Level 7 : 400/800, 800 ante
Matt Bond
Matt Bond

Matt Bond was just spotted with a heap of chips north of 160,000. He provided the details on how he got a significant portion.

According to Bond, under the gun opened to 1,500 and was called by the hijack. Bond was on the button and three-bet to 5,000, with both players calling. The three went to the flop {j-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{2-Spades} and the original raiser checked under the gun, which was followed by an overbet-shove of 57,500 from the hijack. Bond called and the original raiser folded.

All-In Player: {k-Spades}{q-Spades}
Matt Bond: {k-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}

A pair of running {4-Clubs}{4-Spades} left the situation unchanged and the six-figure pot was sent to Bond. He is one of the largest stacks in the room by a wide margin early in Level 7.

Boas Gets A Near-Double

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante
Toby Boas
Toby Boas

A player in middle position opened to 3,000 and saw the hijack three-bet jam for 18,500. Toby Boas re-jammed on the button for 22,600 and the middle-position player thought long and hard before folding {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs} face up.

All-In Player: {a-Spades}{j-Hearts}
Toby Boas: {a-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}

Boas tabled his hand before his opponent did the same, knowing full well that he held the same hand as what was folded. Luckily for him, he still had his opponent dominated and faded any disaster as the board ran out {9-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{3-Hearts}.

Walters Done and Dusted

Level 11 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante
David Walters
David Walters

David "Bama" Walters was just eliminated from the tournament, stopping by to inform PokerNews of the news. A combination of Walters and tablemates Reed Hart and David Salisbury completed the details, with Salisbury being the one who put the nail in the coffin.

Bets went in on every street and eventually, stacks got in on the turn with a board of {a-}{9-}{x-}{j-} and over 200,000 in the middle.

David Walters: {a-}{j-}
David Salisbury: {a-}{9-}

Salisbury had flopped two pair and Walters turned a higher two pair, but the river came {9-} to re-improve Salisbury to a full house and send Walters to the showers.
