E-Tay Playing in Her Own Mixed Games Tournament
Esther "E-Tay" Taylor, a BetMGM ambassador, has over $3.3 million in live tournament cashes. She's crushed it for years, and now she has a tournament named after her.
That tournament is the $2,500 E-Tay's Big, Big 9 Game Mix, which is currently running at Borgata. Taylor is a skilled mixed games player. She finished third for $595,136 in the $50,000 WSOP Poker Players Championship, the most prestigious mixed games tournament in the world.
Running deep in such an event helped land E-Tay some sponsorship deals, including with BetMGM, a company she's proud to represent. Now she's helping spread mixed games on the East Coast.
"I just love having this tournament here (at Borgata)," Taylor told PokerNews. "It's one of the bigger mixed game tournaments that we can run for the Northeast players. And, really, I see a lot of players that came from all over."
The tournament she's running at Borgata is a big event, as it has a $150,000 guaranteed prize pool, much larger than most mixed games events. There are nine separate poker variants players must learn how to play to run deep in this event, and E-Tay knows which ones excels in and which ones she doesn't.
"Probably Stud. Any variation of Stud," she said when asked which game is her strongest.
As for her worst game among the nine, it's "definitely Single Draw No-Limit, just lack of experience."
"This is why a tournament like this is so great," Taylor continued. "You can get players in here this kind of tournament and these kind of games at a pretty decent level. There's not much out there where you can practice these games, so you kind of have to dive right in. And I think this is a good price point to do that."
