The first Chainsaw Mixed Series of Poker (CMSOP) winner has been crowned at Borgata as Donovan Bates took down $600 Omaha Hi-Lo for $9,840.
But the victory meant more than the money to Bates. The event took place on his grandmother's birthday, and Bates took to social media to celebrate after the victory.
"This is the first bday we had to spend without her," Bates wrote on X. "We miss you grandma, and I played and won this tournament for you today!"
Bates defeated longtime pro Christopher Tryba during heads-up play, while poker legend Roland Israelashvili also landed a podium finish.
