Third Time's a Charm

The cards will soon be back in the air at the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa for Day 1c of the Borgata Spring Poker Open's first event, the $560 buy-in $1 Million Guaranteed Reentry event. Day 1a saw a total of 358 entries recorded, while yesterday's second starting flight brought in 469 more buy-ins on board.

Today will see two more starting flights take place, as Day 1c and Day 1d take place throughout the day and into the wee hours of the morning. A total of 1,173 entries and reentries will need to be recorded for the $1 million guaranteed prize pool to be generated, but with hundreds of players having already fired a bullet and missed their mark, we expect the numbers to increase in a sufficient manner.

Dozens of notable names and poker pros took to the felt during the last two days, some bagging and tagging a stack for Day 2 already, while others will be back at it here today hoping the third time is truly the charm. Those who are through to Day 2 include local legend Joe McKeehen, Luke Edwards, Amnon Filippi, Tony Sinishtaj, Scott Baumstein and James Woods. Counted among the casualties thus far are Micah Raskin, Timothy Little, John D'Agostino, Megan Milburn, Rob Voigt and Joseph Stiers.

Those who went busto already can enter and reenter through Level 9 of each starting flight, while players with a small stack bagged up can elect to try, try again, hoping to hit a higher mark in their next try. This means the action will be fast and furious throughout the day, with players realizing that they only have a few more chances to make Day 2 - and play for part of the $1 million guaranteed prize pool.

Keep it here throughout the day (and night) as PokerNews brings you live continuous coverage of the Borgata Spring Poker Open, where the East Coast's most gifted grinders and aspiring amateurs join a motley crew of touring professionals to chase that elusive six-figure score.
