Binking the Turn

Level 10 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Dave Inselberg tossed out 3,000 on a flop of {a-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{8-Spades}, and his neighbor, Bryan Choi, made the call.

The turn was the {5-Spades}, Inselberg slowed down, check-calling a bet of 4,000 from Choi, and the river was the {10-Spades}. Inselberg checked, Choi plopped 11,500 in front of him, and Inselberg called.

Choi turned over {5-Spades}{5-Clubs} for a turned full house, and Inselberg flicked his hand into the muck, unhappy to see that Choi floated him on the flop and then binked on the turn.

Andy's Adding

Level 10 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Andy Spears checked on a flop of {4-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{k-Clubs}, and Matt Affleck tossed out 7,000 with around 12,000 already in the pot. Spears considered the bet briefly, and called.

The turn was a third club - the {7-Clubs} - both players knuckled, and the {10-Spades} completed the board. Spears led out, firing 11,200, and Affleck tanked before sliding his cards forward and side swiping them into the muck.

Spears raked in the pot, pushing is stack to a quarter million chips, and Affleck fell to 62,000.

The turn was the {4-Diamonds}, Massey announced "fifty-five," and Richey immediately folded.

Greg Ostrander
Greg Ostrander

With 57,000 already in the pot on a {9-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{K-Clubs} board, Greg Ostrander moved all in for his last 54,000. His opponent tanked for about a minute and as he was folding, Ostrander said "you have tens, don't you" - his opponent flipped over {10-}{10-} confirming Ostrander's read.

"That King hurt me," said Ostrander as he turned over {A-}{A-}.

Melanie Weisner (Day 1b) - Eliminated

After butting heads in a few pots, according to their tablemates, Eric Ladny and Melanie Weisner just played an all-in pot that saw the latter's elimination.

Ladny opened to 2,000 in late position, Weisner three-bet to 5,500 on his direct left, and Ladny moved all in when the action folded back to him. Weisner called.

Ladny: {a-Spades}{a-Diamonds}
Weisner: {a-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}

Ladny improved to a full house on a board of {j-Clubs}{a-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}{3-Clubs}, and Weisner hit the rail.

Alan Wentz is trending down
Alan Wentz is trending down

Alan Wentz entered the day with the largest stack in the field (239,500), and although he remains one of the leaders, he has bled off some chips in the first level of play.

In a recent hand, he check-called bets of 4,500 and 8,000 from Bernard Liberati on a flop of {k-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{7-Hearts} and after the turn was the {2-Spades}. The pair checked on the river, and Wentz opened up {q-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}.

The pocket queens were no good against Liberati's {k-Spades}{9-Spades}, and he picked up the pot.

Frankenberger Busts Dever

Level 9 : 400/800, 100 ante

We didn't see the action in Catherine Dever's elimination hand, but we arrived to witness the aftermath.

The board was completed {10-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{9-}{10-}{j-}, and Dever had {k-Clubs}{q-Spades} in front of her for a king-hight straight. Unfortunately for her, the {9-Hearts}{9-Clubs} was laying in front of Frankenberger, and the full house trumped her straight.

Dever hit the rail, while the 2012 WSOP bracelet winner ticked up to 100,000 chips.
