Huynh Playing Big Stack

Kenny Huynh

Level 12: Blinds 1,500/2,500/2,500 BB Ante

Kenny Huynh appears to be the chip leader, playing 170,000 as they approach the next break. That puts him second only to Michael Muniz, who leads the remaining players with 189,000.

Huynh made the final table of the 2019 Summer Poker Open Championship, finishing 5th for $69,801. Needless to say, that's the best cash on his poker resume, which is only a little more than three years long.

Wang Making it Look Easy

Michael Wang
Michael Wang

Level 7: Blinds 400/800/800 BB Ante

The youthful-looking Michael Wang has quite a bit of poker experience covering the previous decade, including a World Series of Poker bracelet win (2015) and two WSOP Circuit rings, both won last month in Baltimore.

Here at Borgata, the Jersey resident has two wins; one in Pot Limit Omaha (2012) and the second in Six-Max NLH (2015). If he doesn't 'survive' in this event, we will probably see him in the PLO event that starts at 3pm.

Totalling more than $2.5 million, his lifetime earnings rival those of many much older professionals.

Shnaider On a Roll

Oleg Shnaider
Oleg Shnaider

Level 6: Blinds 300/600/600 BB Ante

Oleg Shnaider played in yesterday's Event #23: $450 Big 3 Super Qualifier NLH satellite, which awarded the final 10% of players with seats in three events: Event #3: $500k GTD $560 Kick-Off NLH, Event #11: $300k GTD $400 Almighty Stack NLH, and Event #17: $1M GTD $2,700 BFPO Championship NLH.

With 45 entrants, the final four players would receive the full three event buy-in package and fifth place would get a $2,700 seat in the BFPO championship and a little extra cash.

Shnaider made it to the final four and got the full three event package, so we'll be seeing a lot of him during this series. He's on the felt today playing for another $5,000 cash which will make a nice cash cushion if he can continue his hot streak. He's cashed in two previous Super Survivors in the last couple of years, so he's quite familiar with the format.

During the 2018 Borgata Poker Open, he made it to the final table of the WPT BPO Championship NLH event, finishing 3rd for $283,341 which is of course his best live cash and accounts for most of his lifetime earnings of more than $341,000.

Dever is the Lone Female In Early Action

Cathy Dever
Cathy Dever

Level 4: Blinds 200/300/300 BB Ante

Cathy Dever is the only woman in action so far in today's Super Survivor field, which has finally crossed into triple digits.

Over the last 10 years, she's booked more than $467,000 in tournament earnings, putting her 83rd on Pennsylvania's All Time Money List. Her best live cash of $41,979 came with her only win here at Borgata in the 2016 Winter Poker Open $230 NLH event.

She's no stranger to the Survivor format either. Back in the Spring, she cashed for $5,000 in the $560 Bounty Super Survivor.

Rags Returns For Survivor

Ragavan Thiagarajah
Ragavan Thiagarajah

Level 3: Blinds 100/200/200 BB Ante

Ragavan 'Rags' Thiagarajah opened his poker resume just over a decade ago with a cash at the 2009 World Series of Poker. Following that he returned home to New Jersey and began padding that resume with cashes here at Borgata.

During the 2010 Spring Poker Open, he booked his first tournament win in the $400 NLH event, earning $20,600. Although that remains his only reported win, he's come close a couple of times. During the 2012 Summer Open, he finished runner-up in the $340 Big Stack NLH event for $14,448. Then three years ago during the Fall Open in the $450 Almighty Stack NLH event he finished runner-up again, this time booking his best live cash of $57,705.

Over the years that followed he's amassed more than $268,000 in tournament earnings and could add another $5,000 to that today.

The 2019 Borgata Fall Poker Open Begins with Bankroll Boosting Event #1: Super Survivor!

The 2019 Borgata Fall Poker Open (BFPO) will feature 23 Main Events from November 5-23, and today PokerNews begins the first of 18 straight days of live updates starting with Event #1: $560 Super Survivor No Limit Hold'em.

For the first time ever, this Borgata Open series starts not with the usual bang, but rather with a whisper. The $500,000 GTD Kick-Off has been pushed back to start on Wednesday (Event 3) and today we'll have two one-day events to warm up.

The first is a non-trophy event and begins at 11am in the Signature Room. This Super Survivor will have multiple winners, so no trophy is awarded. Approximately 1 out of every 10 players will collect a bankroll-boosting $5,000 cash!

Players begin with 20,000 chips and Levels 1-16 are 30 minutes long. Levels 17+ will last 40 minutes. Late registration and unlimited re-entries are available until the start of Level 9 (about 3:30pm). They’ll play until only 10% of the field remains and those will be our Super Survivors! Click here to view the Event 1 Structure Sheet.

For players who need a backroll refill later in the series, two more Super Survivors will run on Friday, November 8th at 5pm (Event 5) and Friday, November 15th at 5pm (Event 15).

Later today at 3pm, Event #2: $340 Pot Limit Omaha gets underway and that's a one-day event, so the first trophy of the series will be awarded tonight (or early tomorrow morning).
