Whittington Floats and Takes

Level 11 : 800/1,500, 1,500 ante

The button player opened to 4,000 and Blake Whittington defended his big blind. A flop of {k-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{3-Spades} landed on the felt and Whittington checked to his opponent who bet 5,500.

Whittington called and the {q-Spades} peeled off as a turn card. Whittington reached for chips, pushing in 9,000 and his opponent quickly released their hand, sending the decently sized pot to Whittington.

Borgata's Newest Open Champion in Play

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante
Jackob Datashvili
Jackob Datashvili

Borgata's most recently crowned Open series Championship winner, Jackob Datashvili, is in play here late in Flight E, getting busy shortly before the close of the registration period.

Back in July, Datashvili came out on top of a tough field of 514 entrants to take first place in the 2019 Borgata Summer Poker Open Championship. He earned $276,129* for first place and his first Borgata trophy — his first trophy of any kind, in fact.

He’s been playing tournaments for about three years and that was his first win. He followed that up with a strong showing in the $550 Parx Big Stax event, finishing second for $81,733 (heads-up deal with Daniel Park).

Avon Holds on with Cowboys, Sends One Home

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

Bobby Avon opened from middle position to 5,000, the cutoff player called and the button opponent three-bet to 15,000. Avon moved all in and only the button player called, pushing in their remaining 58,000 stack.

Opponent: {j-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}
Bobby Avon: {k-Hearts}{k-Clubs}

The board ran out {9-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{7-Clubs}{3-Spades}{q-Hearts} and Avon's kings took down the pot, eliminating his opponent from the tournament.

Pillai Stacking Piles

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante
Shankar Pillai
Shankar Pillai

Shankar Pillai took down one of the toughest events at this summer's World Series of Poker, winning the $1,500 Bracelet Winners Only event — a field made up solely of players who had already won at least one WSOP bracelet. The prize money was a modest $71,580, which was dwarfed by the $527,829 that he won along with his first bracelet twelve years earlier.

He's cruising comfortably with about 245,000 (122 big blinds) and barring disaster, should have a coveted plastic bag in his possession at the end of Level 16.

Murcott Doubles Through Reese

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

Dylan Murcott called a 4,500 raise from a player to his direct right and Adam Reese three-bet to 17,000 on the button. Action folded to Murcott who moved all in for around 44,500 total and Reese called, players tabled their hands.

Dylan Murcott: {9-Spades}{9-Clubs}
Adam Reese: {q-Hearts}{7-Hearts}

The board ran out {j-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{5-Clubs}{k-Spades} and Murcott's nines took down the pot, doubling through Reese just before break time.
