Event #11: $450 H.O.S.E.
Day 1 Started
Event 11: $450 H.O.S.E. will be off and running shortly on the side of the Event Center near the food court.
Last September, they played H.O.R.S.E., but this year have dropped Razz from the lineup. These four games will be played in eight hand rotation:
Hold’em
Omaha High/Low
Stud
Eight or Better (Stud High/Low)
Players get 20,000 chips to start and this is all Limit poker, so it takes a bit longer to get all the chips in the middle. Levels are all 30 minutes in duration.
Late registration and unlimited re-entries are available until the start of level 11 (at least 8:45pm). This is a one-day tournament, so they'll play until another Borgata Poker Open trophy has a new home.
Last year, Barry Levy won the HORSE-ament for the second time and claimed his fourth Borgata title in the process. There were 85 entrants in that two-day event, which was a freeze-out, and first place was good for $12,532.
There are a lot of mixed game wizards in this HOSE-ament, including David Levi, who finished third out of 772 entrants in the 2015 WSOP $1,500 HORSE event, earning just over $100,000.

One of the players in today's H.O.S.E. field is accustomed to being a part of the action off the felt. Canada's Brandyn Trenholm is actually in Atlantic City to live report the 2019 Borgata Poker Open (BPO) for PokerNews, but given it's his day off and the tournament is a one-day event, he's opted to try his hand at the four-game mix.
Like many poker reporters, Trenholm enjoys squaring off against the players he's used to reporting on. While he tends to play more online than live, Trenholm has notched $18,517 in live tournament earnings.
The vast majority of that - $13,804 to be exact- came in one fell swoop back in 2015 when he took down the Charlottetown CAD$300 Deep Freeze Bounty Poker Tournament.
He also got a win in the summer of 2018 while in Las Vegas to work the World Series of Poker. He hopped on over to The Orleans where he promptly took down the 2018 Summer Poker Series $125 Omaha 8-or-Better event for $3,100.
Only time will tell if Trenholm can notch his first cash here at Borgata.

Poker reporter Brandyn Trenholm gave the H.O.S.E. tournament his best shot but was recently eliminated in a hand of Stud.
Trenholm got the last of his chips in on sixth street holding two pair - nines and sevens - with a straight flush draw to boot. He was called by a player holding naked kings.
The player with the kings caught a three on seventh to make a bigger two pair and Trenholm bricked with an offsuit four to see his tournament come to a sudden end.
