Phillips Flops Huge, Mermelstein Turns Bigger

Level 21 : 10,000/15,000, 15,000 ante

Aaron Mermelstein opened to 35,000 from the cutoff and directly on his left was Tyler Phillips who three-bet to 105,000. Mermelstein quickly shoved for 750,000 and Phillips slammed in a stack as he snap-called the all-in, putting Mermelstein at risk.

Aaron Mermelstein: {a-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}
Tyler Phillips: {k-Spades}{k-Hearts}

The dealer fanned out {k-Diamonds}{j-Spades}{5-Spades} on the flop, giving Phillips a set of cowboys. A very fortuitous card peeled off on the turn for Mermelstein when the dealer flipped over a {q-Clubs}, hitting Mermelstein with a straight as he overtook the lead.

The river came down a {9-Hearts}, cementing the pot for Mermelstein who grabbed a complete double through Phillips thanks to a lucky turn card.

Albers Extracts with a River Card vs. Bowers

Level 21 : 10,000/15,000, 15,000 ante

The flop read {a-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{2-Spades} and there was around 375,000 in the pot. Derek Bowers checked to Kevin Albers who bet 235,000 and Bowers check-called to see the {k-Clubs} turn card.

Both players checked to the {5-Hearts} river where Bowers checked again and Albers reached for chips, pushing in 450,000. Bowers thought for a full minute but in the end, he called the large river bet.

Albers tabled the nuts as he showed {q-Spades}{10-Clubs} for a rivered straight and Bowers let out a sigh of disappointment as he sent his cards into the muck.

Maloney Snatches Another Pot from Bowers

Level 22 : 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante

The flop read {j-Spades}{6-Clubs}{2-Hearts} and there was around 120,000 in the pot. Derek Bowers bet 50,000 and Donald Maloney raised to 165,000.

Bowers called, the {8-Diamonds} landed on the turn and both players then checked to the {3-Clubs} river card. Bowers pushed in a bet of 150,000 and Maloney snap-called.

Bowers turned over {k-Clubs}{j-Clubs} for top pair but it was not good as Maloney showed {j-Diamonds}{8-Spades} for two pair. Maloney took down the pot and continued the downward spiral of Bowers late in the day.
