Daniel Buzgon
Daniel Buzgon

In early 2019, Daniel Buzgon signed on as a BorgataPoker.com Sponsored Pro – one of three alongside Michael “Gags” Gagliano and Katie Stone.

“It took a little bit of time to get all the paperwork and stuff like that,” Buzgon previously told PokerNews of becoming sponsored. “It was in December when it started but wasn’t official until just before the Borgata Winter series. Duties include mainly playing a lot online, promoting the site, and trying to get new players on the site.”

According to HendonMob, Buzgon has more than $2.3 million in lifetime live tournament earnings since 2007. He’s a four-time World Series of Poker Circuit ring winner has played for big money before. In 2001, he finished third in the WPT Borgata Poker Open for $335,433, and last year he finished fifth in the WPT Borgata Winter Poker Open Main Event for $202,942. He also finished fourth in the 2012 WPT bestbet Jacksonville for $94,624.

Additionally, Buzgon is a beast online where he’s amassed more than $3.1 million in earnings, of which $435,457 has come on BorgataPoker.com where he plays under the screen name “leinad.”

Keep an eye out for Buzgon throughout the 2020 Borgata Spring Poker Open Online Series.

Halfway Through Registration

Level 10 is underway and blinds are up to 1,200/2,400 with an ante of 300. The field has grown to 115, meaning the guaranteed prize pool of $20,000 has been officially surpassed halfway through the registration period. Here's a look at the leader board.

"Dolarek" Makes the Right Call for Stacks

"Dolarek" Makes the Right Call
"Dolarek" Makes the Right Call

With Level 9 underway and blinds at 1,000/2,000 and an ante of 250, "Dolarek" raised to 4,000 under the gun and was called by "tc_ownz" in middle position. All remaining players folded and action went heads up to a flop of {5-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}, where "Dolarek" made a continuation-bet of 2,000. "tc_ownz" called.

The turn was {5-Diamonds} and "Dolarek" kept on the min-bet train, firing another 2,000. "tc_ownz" raised it up to 10,000 and "Dolarek" quickly called, bringing the river {10-Spades}. "Dolarek" continued the trend and bet 2,000 once more. "tc_ownz" thought for some time and then shoved all in for around 32,000. "Dolarek" then thought for a bit and elected to call.

"tc_ownz": {q-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}
"Dolarek": {7-Diamonds}{7-Spades}

Much to their delight, "Dolarek" had made the correct call with tens and sevens proving best to the bluff that "tc_ownz" made with their unpaired overcards. The pot was shipped to "Dolarek" and "tc_ownz" wasted no time firing another bullet, getting right back in on the action with a fresh stack once again.

Time for a Break

It's the :55 of the hour, meaning players are on a five-minute break. The field size has climbed to 89, and 65 players currently remain with one minute still on the clock in Level 8 (800/1600 blinds with an ante of 200). Registration will be open for roughly another one hour and 45 minutes.

Two Familiar Faces Head To the Races

Action was in Level 8 with blinds of 800/1,600 and an ante of 200 when "tc_ownz" opened to 3,200 in the cutoff. "MattEMenz" was on the button and three-bet to 9,920. The players in the blinds folded and "tc_ownz" shoved all in for around 20 big blinds. "MattEMenz" called.

"tc_ownz": {9-Spades}{9-Clubs}
"MattEMenz": {k-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}

The first card of the runout was all "MattEMenz" would need as the board came {a-Spades}{j-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{2-Hearts} to score him a pair of aces and win the pot. "tc_ownz" wasted no time re-entering, and now has a fresh stack of 50,000 with a new seat at the same table.

"upayformypennys" Gets Help on Turn To Double

"upayformypennys" Doubles Through "allinorbust"
"upayformypennys" Doubles Through "allinorbust"

With play in Level 7 and blinds at 600/1,200 with an ante of 150, "Allyoucaneat" limped in under the gun. "upayformpennys" pumped it up to 4,800 in middle position and was three-bet to 8,400 by the "afalange11," who recently re-entered and was in the cutoff.

"allinorbust" cold-called on the button and action folded back around to "upayformypennys," who also called to take action three ways to the flop {9-Spades}{7-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}. Action checked to "allinorbust," who went all in for an effective 39,000 into a pot of around 30,000. "upayformypennys" called all in for around 30,000 and "afalange11" folded.

"upayformypennys": {8-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}
"allinorbust": {k-Clubs}{9-Clubs}

"upayformypennys" had called with a pair of eights and a gutshot straight draw and found themselves at risk for their tournament life up against "allinorbust's" top pair of nines. They had two chances at six outs to double and would only need one as the turn {6-Clubs} improved them to a straight, leaving "allinorbust" with two outs left to a chop. Neither came on the river {5-Clubs} and "upayformypennys" scored the double.

The tournament is now in Level 6 and blinds are at 500/1,000 with an ante of 125. The number of entries has risen to 63 with 53 players currently remaining.

"JinYang" Delivers a Fatal Blow To "afalange11"

"JinYang" Eliminates "afalange11"
"JinYang" Eliminates "afalange11"

Action was in Level 5 with blinds of 400/800 and an ante of 100. "PompYouUp" raised to 1,700 in early position and "afalange11" three-bet to 3,400. "jinYang" cold four-bet on the button to 13,200 and action made its way back to "PompYouUp," who folded. "afalange11" then called.

Heads-up action saw the flop come {6-Hearts}{10-Spades}{j-Hearts} and "afalange11" checked. "JinYang" went all in for over 50,000 and "afalange11" immediately called.

"afalange11": {k-Diamonds}{k-Spades}
"JinYang": {a-Clubs}{k-Hearts}

"afalange11" was out in front and poised to double with a pot of more than 85,000 looming near as long as they could fade a queen, an ace, or running hearts. The turn {q-Hearts} changed everything, giving "JinYang" Broadway and leaving "afalange11" with just two outs to chop. The river {8-Clubs} did not provide any help and they were eliminated from the tournament as the pot was shipped to "JinYang," who now has over 100,000 after taking down the pot.

"FoxEcho" Takes It With Big Slick

"FoxEcho" Wins at Showdown
"FoxEcho" Wins at Showdown

Blinds were at 300/600 with an ante of 75 as play reached Level 4 and "FoxEcho" opened to 2,400 in early position. "SLHalper" called in middle position and action went heads up to a flop of {7-Clubs}{j-Hearts}{5-Clubs}. "FoxEcho" made a continuation-bet of 4,000 and "SLHalper13" called.

The turn came {7-Diamonds} and "FoxEcho" checked. "SLHalper" bet 7,709 and "FoxEcho" quickly hit the call button, bringing the river {8-Clubs} on board. Both players checked to take the hand to showdown.

"FoxEcho" tabled {a-Spades}{k-Spades} for ace-king high to go along with the board's pair of sevens and "SLHalper13" mucked, resulting in the pot being shipped their way.
