Event #8 of the Borgata Winter Poker Open was the $230 Deeper Stack NLH $25,000 Guaranteed. There were 346 total entries and when the smoke cleared in the early morning hours Frank Simone was the last man standing.
Simone entered the final table with the chip lead and after eliminating Fady Khabbaz he stayed at the top for much of the night.
Simone then sent Michael Rosner to the rail in third holding pocket jacks and he brought a healthy chip lead into heads-up play against Stephen Silverman.
Just a few hands later it was Simone in the winner's circles earning $18,121 and his first Borgata Poker Open trophy.
A player in middle position raised and Carlos Matos defended his big blind. They went heads up to the flop and Matos check-called a bet of 100,000.
Both players checked the turn card and the completed the board. Matos fired out a bet of 150,000 and his opponent instantly fired his hand into the muck.
We are now just four eliminations away from the money and it's David Assadourian out in front with 825,000.
Mike Dentale continues to climb and he is now second on the chip counts. Miguel Reyes and Carlos Matos are also within striking distance with over half a million.
Sal Anastasio raised to 18,000 from middle position and Kyle Romero re-raised to 49,000 from the big blind. Anastasio called and they went heads up to the flop.
Romero moved all in for 70,000 and Anastasio quickly called.
