Ruben Lopes Eliminated in 2nd Place ($228,000 US)
Level 24
: Blinds 60,000/120,000, 120,000 ante
Mehdi Chaoui limped in from the small blind and Ruben Lopes checked.
Chaoui bet 420,000 on the J♥6♣5♥ flop, and Lopes called to see the 4♥ turn. Chaoui stopped to blow in his coffee cup before betting another 400,000, and Lopes again called.
The river was the K♠ and Chaoui moved all in. Lopes took a few seconds before calling for his last 1,300,000, and Chaoui showed 8♠7♣ for a straight. Lopes sent Q♠6♥ into the muck as he had to settle for a runner-up finish, while Chaoui secured the trophy.
