Day 4 of the 2017 Cash Game Festival Gibraltar in Aurora Ballroom at Sunborn Casino was a huge success.

The day began for many players relaxing and swimming at a pool party on the top floor of the seven-story yacht that houses the hotel and casino.

Other players began the day either seeing the sites and sounds of the city or heading straight to the casino to play poker.

The first feature table featured a few firsts. Cash Game Festival regular Ryan Davey donated 15 percent of his winnings from his appearance on the table to one lucky Twitch viewer. Also, Cash Game Festival commentator Brandon Allen was sweating things out with his wife on the table playing poker for the first time. Both Davey and Allen were able to turn a profit.

The later feature table was equally interesting as the game moved on to pot-limit Omaha. Finnish comedian and poker player Veli-Matti Puumala was on of the big winners on that table.

Later in the night, more than three dozen players headed next door to the yacht to enjoy a VIP party. After the VIP party, many of the players headed back to the casino to play more poker. Even at 6 a.m., there were four tables running.

Tomorrow is the last day of the 2017 Cash Game Festival Gibraltar. PokerNews will be on hand to cover the day along with interviews including the second party with Betsafe Ambassador Monika Zukowicz.

VIP Party Starts in Under and Hour

Some of the players left the poker room to freshen up for the VIP party that starts in one hour. The PokerNews Live Reporting team will pop over to the event for the first 15-30 minutes before heading back to the poker room to find out who the big winner was on the feature table.

Comedy on the Feature Table

The £2/£2 pot-limit Omaha feature table just kicked off.

You will be able to watch the action on the Cash Game Festival Twitch channel and on our coverage under the Live Streaming tab.

Finland's Veli-Matti “Velu” Puumala, in Seat 1 is a Finnish comedian and poker player. Most people that meet him think he is an all-around fun guy. When asked if he was nervous, he shared, "No. But I'm afraid I'm shit." Puumala has now been to at least three Cash Game Festivals and is in Gibraltar compliments of the house thanks to winning a high hand jackpot promotion during the Cash Game Festival Tallinn at the end of April.

Poker marketing executive Matthew Smith from the United Kingdom is in Seat 2. His favorite Omaha hand is king-queen-jack-ten double suited.

Another Finnish player, Mikko Lehtonen, is in Seat 3. Like Smith, he likes double suited rundowns to start off with. His favorite starting hand is just one card off from Smith with queen-jack-ten-nine double suited.

Spain's Francisco Rebolo is in Seat 5. He shared he is not nervous to be on the feature table despite this being his first poker appearance in front of a camera. His favorite hand is ace-ace-king-king double suited.

Latvia's Harijs “Timurs/Tim” Cinis, in Seat 6, might be as much of a comedian as Puumala even though this wasn't mentioned as one of his professions. He shared that his favorite hand was "winning one."

Finland's Sampsa "Sampson" Nyysti, in Seat 7, came to Gibraltar along with Puumala. While the duo is good friends off the poker felt, when on it together a battle inevitably happens.

British student Ryan Mullarkey rounds off the action in Seat 8. He shared his biggest achievement was playing Viktor "Isildur1" Blom heads-up.

Players at the £2/£2 pot-limit Omaha feature table are receiving instructions from Cash Game Festival Project Manager on where to place their hole cards among other things. The stream will start any minute on a 20-minute delay and we will publish a little information about the line-up shortly.

You will be able to watch the action on the Cash Game Festival Twitch channel and on our coverage under the Live Streaming tab.

Ryan Davey gave away 15 percent of his profit or £25 from the previous feature table to a lucky winner. Tony "Massivepats" Hitrov won the contest and was on hand in Gibraltar to already collect his prize.

Davey will be joining Cash Game Festival Commentator Brandon Allen in the booth for the next stream.

Most of the tables around the poker room are £1/£2 no-limit hold'em. On other tables is Michael Fletcher on a £2/£5 no-limit hold'em where all players are "optionally" straddling and Veli-Matti Puumala and Sampa "Sampson" Nyssti among the players on the £2/£2 pot-limit Omaha feature table.

Peter La Terra On Top of the Leaderboard

The leaderboard is one of two that the Cash Game Festival and Sunborn Casino are hosting during the festival.

How it works is that players receive a 25 play chip every hour on the hour that can be used on play money roulette and blackjack tables located in between the poker tables and a bar. Players can combine chips with other players.

The top five players in chips during the two competitions (May 17 at 5 p.m. to May 19 at 4 a.m. and May 19 at 5 a.m. to May 22 at 4 a.m.) will walk away with prizes. The winner during each competition will be awarded a Cash Game Festival Malta package that includes free hotel, the hospitality package and €500 in cash to be used on the poker tables.

Currently, Cash Game Festival regular Peter La Terra has a commanding lead on the leaderboard. However, there is still plenty of time left.

La Terra collected a pile of chips to be used in the promotional games during a late night/early morning poker session. All the players on the table agreed for the dealer to deal one card to each player after the chips were awarded. The player with the highest card collected all the chips. La Terra defied the odds and won this competition four out of six times.

The Cash Game Festival Malta takes place from June 14-18 and you can get more information on the Cash Game Festival website.

The top five players during each of the two competitions receive the following prizes:

  1. Cash Game Festival Malta package including hotel, hospitality package and €500 stake.
  2. Cash Game Festival Malta TV table stake valued at €500.
  3. Cash Game Festival Malta hospitality packages for two people valued at €400.
  4. Cash Game Festival Malta TV table stake valued at €200.
  5. Free beer, soda or juice at the Sunborn Casino Bar valued at €5.

Guts Pride For Frode Alnes

Frode Alnes
Frode Alnes

Frode Alnes was one of three players on the feature table wearing a Guts.com patch. He not only won more than the other two players, but also won the most out of any of the players on the early feature table booking a profit of around €300.

Meanwhile, Kadi-Liis Allen, the wife of Cash Game Festival Commentator Brandon Allen, booked a profit of almost €100. This may not sound like a ton, but in perspective, it is quite a lot. She learned some of the rules to no-limit hold'em last night and was busy googling hand rankings and rules as the seconds were ticking down to the table beginning.

Meanwhile, Ryan Davey won €160 and is gave away £25 of that profit to a lucky listener of the stream.

The feature table is currently on break. A £2/£2 pot-limit Omaha game is being set-up and should begin shortly. You will be able to watch the action on the Cash Game Festival Twitch channel and on our coverage under the Live Streaming tab.
