Day 4 of the 2017 Cash Game Festival Gibraltar in Aurora Ballroom at Sunborn Casino was a huge success.

The day began for many players relaxing and swimming at a pool party on the top floor of the seven-story yacht that houses the hotel and casino.

Other players began the day either seeing the sites and sounds of the city or heading straight to the casino to play poker.

The first feature table featured a few firsts. Cash Game Festival regular Ryan Davey donated 15 percent of his winnings from his appearance on the table to one lucky Twitch viewer. Also, Cash Game Festival commentator Brandon Allen was sweating things out with his wife on the table playing poker for the first time. Both Davey and Allen were able to turn a profit.

The later feature table was equally interesting as the game moved on to pot-limit Omaha. Finnish comedian and poker player Veli-Matti Puumala was on of the big winners on that table.

Later in the night, more than three dozen players headed next door to the yacht to enjoy a VIP party. After the VIP party, many of the players headed back to the casino to play more poker. Even at 6 a.m., there were four tables running.

Tomorrow is the last day of the 2017 Cash Game Festival Gibraltar. PokerNews will be on hand to cover the day along with interviews including the second party with Betsafe Ambassador Monika Zukowicz.

Comedy on the Feature Table

The £2/£2 pot-limit Omaha feature table just kicked off.

You will be able to watch the action on the Cash Game Festival Twitch channel and on our coverage under the Live Streaming tab.

Finland's Veli-Matti “Velu” Puumala, in Seat 1 is a Finnish comedian and poker player. Most people that meet him think he is an all-around fun guy. When asked if he was nervous, he shared, "No. But I'm afraid I'm shit." Puumala has now been to at least three Cash Game Festivals and is in Gibraltar compliments of the house thanks to winning a high hand jackpot promotion during the Cash Game Festival Tallinn at the end of April.

Poker marketing executive Matthew Smith from the United Kingdom is in Seat 2. His favorite Omaha hand is king-queen-jack-ten double suited.

Another Finnish player, Mikko Lehtonen, is in Seat 3. Like Smith, he likes double suited rundowns to start off with. His favorite starting hand is just one card off from Smith with queen-jack-ten-nine double suited.

Spain's Francisco Rebolo is in Seat 5. He shared he is not nervous to be on the feature table despite this being his first poker appearance in front of a camera. His favorite hand is ace-ace-king-king double suited.

Latvia's Harijs “Timurs/Tim” Cinis, in Seat 6, might be as much of a comedian as Puumala even though this wasn't mentioned as one of his professions. He shared that his favorite hand was "winning one."

Finland's Sampsa "Sampson" Nyysti, in Seat 7, came to Gibraltar along with Puumala. While the duo is good friends off the poker felt, when on it together a battle inevitably happens.

British student Ryan Mullarkey rounds off the action in Seat 8. He shared his biggest achievement was playing Viktor "Isildur1" Blom heads-up.

Guts Pride For Frode Alnes

Frode Alnes
Frode Alnes

Frode Alnes was one of three players on the feature table wearing a Guts.com patch. He not only won more than the other two players, but also won the most out of any of the players on the early feature table booking a profit of around €300.

Meanwhile, Kadi-Liis Allen, the wife of Cash Game Festival Commentator Brandon Allen, booked a profit of almost €100. This may not sound like a ton, but in perspective, it is quite a lot. She learned some of the rules to no-limit hold'em last night and was busy googling hand rankings and rules as the seconds were ticking down to the table beginning.

Meanwhile, Ryan Davey won €160 and is gave away £25 of that profit to a lucky listener of the stream.

The feature table is currently on break. A £2/£2 pot-limit Omaha game is being set-up and should begin shortly. You will be able to watch the action on the Cash Game Festival Twitch channel and on our coverage under the Live Streaming tab.

Betsafe Ambassador Monika Zukowicz "Loves the Format of the Cash Game Festival"

Monika Zukowicz
Monika Zukowicz

Monika Zukowicz might be a new name to many poker players, especially outside of her home country of Poland. However, she is an up and coming poker streamer on Twitch and player with a smile that is infectious to anyone she comes into contact with. She seemed like a confident and well-seasoned poker player on the first televised table of the festival Monika Zukowicz and shared with PokerNews a bit about herself and her thoughts about the 2017 Cash Game Festival Gibraltar.

Zukowicz's journey into poker began five years ago when she was a pharmacy student. It all started when she learned a friend of her best friend was making very good money playing poker.

"If he is making that much money playing poker, I am going to be a super rich girl," Zukowicz explained about her thought process when she was 18 years old in 2007. "After it turns out, it isn't that easy. But, I am stubborn so I decided to give it a go at it."

She shared that the studies were difficult and it wasn't a raw five years of immersion into the game. Around exam time, Zukowicz explained that months would go by at one time without playing a single hand.

She recently graduated and which freed her up to play online poker whenever she wants and also attend live events.

After a great experience in Las Vegas last summer as a Betsafe representative, she decided that she wanted to extend the relationship. Betsafe felt the same and Zukowicz was brought aboard on a more permanent basis as the company's poker ambassador in January.

Zukowicz shared that being an ambassador is both fun and hard work.

"I am streaming poker three times a week mostly on the Betsafe channel," said Zukowicz. "I am sometimes trying to add some crazy games such as five-card draw. So not only the regular tables. Recently, I started participating in live events so I am not just a face on the Internet."

As a Betsafe ambassador, Zukowicz has now attended many poker festivals. However, until recently, she never realized that there were festivals also catering to cash game players instead of tournament players.

"I found out about the Cash Game Festival about two weeks ago when I was participating in the MPN Poker Tour Malta," said Zukowicz. "During that event, I met people from the Cash Game Festival and I decided to check it out and come here to Gibraltar."

"I am really enjoying this event," said Zukowicz. "You can leave the table whenever you want and talk with people. While tournaments are very different and more stressful."

On the first day of the festival, Zukowicz appeared on the feature table. Despite streaming during most weeks her online action three-times per week, she was a bit nervous about appearing on the feature table in a live poker setting.

"However, when I sat on the TV table for the first time on Day 1 I was a little stressed," said Zukowicz.

Despite her nerves, Zukowicz was able to focus on her game and turn a little bit of profit. She was more relaxed after the session was over on the side table and while enjoying the company of her opponents was able to double her stack.

Zukowicz has been witnessed having a great time playing poker. But the social aspect attracts her even more than the great action on the tables.

"I love the format of the Cash Game Festival and how it is also social. For example, earlier in the festival we took a boat trip and saw some whales and dolphins," Zukowicz said. "That was awesome. While tournaments end in the middle of the night, so they are not likely to participate in such an event. Tournaments are more into the game and resting right afterward at the hotel. Where here we are more about getting an experience and having a good time."

This is part 1 of 2 of our exclusive interview with Zukowicz. Stay tuned to tomorrow's coverage to learn more about the Polish poker sensation and her experiences.

Guts.com Poker Coordinator Isaksen "Loves the Ambiance at the Cash Game Festival"

Lars Erik Isaksen
Lars Erik Isaksen

Lars Erik Isaksen is one of the new faces at the Cash Game Festival. We learned a bit about Isaksen and his thoughts on the Cash Game Festival.

Isaksen just became the poker coordinator at Guts.com on May 2 straight after the Norweigan Poker Championship. He explained how this came about.

"I had some talks with people at Guts, and we set up a small interview and things came along nicely from there," said Isaksen. "They were looking to add to the poker team and I was willing to move back to Malta. I believe it worked well for both parties."

As Isaksen mentioned, his moving to Malta isn't his first rodeo in the country. He explained a bit about what brought him there previously.

"I come from a small town in Norway (Kragerø)," shared Isaksen. "One of the most popular summer tourist destinations in the country. I first moved to Malta after the summer of 2012 when I was recruited to take charge of the Norweigan poker community at Donkr.com and also work on affiliate relationships and management."

Most of his friends leaving the country, combined with a little homesickness led Isaksen to return to Norway.

"Most of my good friends in Malta were moving back to their home countries," said Isaksen. "I was also getting a little homesick. So I wanted to move back home to see how the job market was. I went back to my former job as a pharmaceutical process operator."

As the saying goes, the grass is always greener on the other side and he had a huge itch to return back to the iGaming industry.

"However, after my move back to Norway, I never felt comfortable with that and wanted to jump back into iGaming industry, especially poker," said Isaksen. "That is where I feel I belong."

Isaksen considers himself mostly a multi-table tournament and sit-and-go tournament players. He admitted thought he also dabbles in cash, but it isn't his strong suit.

However, while he may or may not be a cash game novice, he certainly is an experienced player in the tournament circuit.

"I have been all around the world and been fortunate enough to go to Vegas twice," said Isaksen. "I have gone to a few EPTs and UKIPTs. I have also attended the Battle of Malta and nine straight Norweigan Championships."

He shared, however, the ambiance at the Cash Game Festival is truely special. He credits this to being able to play when he wants along with the focus on a good experience by the organizers.

"I love the ambiance at the Cash Game Festival," shared Isaksen. "I really enjoy the team behind the festival and the players they are bringing in. You don't feel forced to play and can do what you want. They just create the setting for a good experience both on and off the felt. I believe this is the key to keeping players coming back."

It appears Isaksen picked a great destination to wet his tongue.

"This is obviously both my first time at a Cash Game Festival and in Gibraltar," said Isaksen. "I am overwhelmed with both the venue being a casino and hotel on a luxury yacht and Gibraltar itself. I can't wait to go see the rock and its famous views and monkeys tomorrow."

On the first day in the festival, Isaksen appeared on the feature table. He wasn't nervous because he recently had played under the lights in cameras during two deep tournament runs.

"I have been on a couple on a couple of TV tables during the Norweigan Championship last year after a pair of deep runs in PLO and 8-game," shared Isaksen. "I don't mind being on camera, but it isn't my strong suit either."

Despite his experience, things didn't go completely Isaksen's way during his first televised poker experience at a Cash Game Festival. He lost a few bucks, however, had a good time and made a good friend in Cash Game Festival regular Ryan Davey.

"I was so card dead on my first televised table during this festival I couldn't even get suited connectors and am hoping to change that today," shared Isaksen. "However, the game was super fun. "Franke" (Martin von Zweigbergk) was on the table and that is always a good time. I also got to meet Ryan Davey for the first time and enjoyed playing with him."

Isaksen will be once again on the feature table early this evening with Davey. He is in awe of Davey giving away a chunk of his profit to one lucky viewer of the stream.

"I am playing on the feature table again tonight with Ryan and he is generously giving away 15 percent of his profits on the table," Isaksen explained. "I really like that idea. While I hope I actually make a profit, if I don't I am happy that a random poker fan will get a few bucks if I lose money to him."

Here's a Look at the Players on the First Feature Table That is Guaranteed to Entertain

Kadi-Liis Allen
Kadi-Liis Allen

The €1/€2 no-limit feature table is fully underway on the Cash Game Festival Twitch channel as well as will be broadcasted across multiple media outlets including PokerNews.

Here is a look at the line-up:

British sports trader Greg Campbell is in Seat 1. While this is his first Cash Game Festival, he is already a veteran on the televised table making at least his third appearance this festival.

Norway's Frode Alnes is one of the three Guts.com players competing on the table in Seat 2. Also sporting a Guts.com patch is norskpoker.com journalist Kjetil Flaaten in Seat 3 and Lars Erik Isaksen in Seat 7. Isaksen sat with PokerNews for an extended interview just before popping on the table and we will share what he had to say about himself and the festival shortly.

Cash Game Festival commentator Brandon Allen's wife Kadi-Liis Allen is in Seat 4. Not only can Brandon troll his wife while she may be losing their flat, their car and life savings (joking), but this is also her first time playing poker in her life after learning a bit about the game last night.

In Seat 5 is Ryan Davey who is generously donating 15 percent of his profit to one lucky viewer. Tune into the stream to learn how you can potentially win.

Ireland's Daniel Fox, in Seat 6, is making another return to the feature table.

In Seat 8 is 2011 World Series of Poker side event winner Alexander Anter from Sweden. This is his second trip to the feature table this festival.

Tune in Soon for the Feature Table

The €1/€2 feature table just kicked off and it is one you will not want to miss.

First of all, as earlier mentioned, Ryan Davey will be giving away 15 percent of his profit to one lucky viewer of the stream.

Also as a treat, the Cash Game Festival Commentator Brandon Allen's wife Kadi-Liis Allen will be on the feature table. The husband announcing and wife play should be a treat. Especially so since this is her first time playing poker after getting a few lessons from players last night.

There are also three Guts.com players ready to battle it out for both money and bragging rights. We will have some information about the full opening line-up shortly.

Welcome to Day 4 of the Cash Game Festival Gibraltar at Sunborn Casino

Ryan Davey

Welcome to Day 4 of the 2017 Cash Game Festival Gibraltar in the Aurora Ballroom at Sunborn Casino.

Yesterday was the biggest day thus far in the festival with a new casino record being set for the second day straight thanks to eight cash game tables running simultaneously. This smashed the previous record before the festival of eight tables and festival organizers are optimistic the record might be broken again today.

It was also a great day at the poker tables in terms of the variety of games. In addition to the many no-limit hold'em tables, there was also action in pot-limit Omaha, "ROE" or round of each of NLHE and PLO, dealer's choice, Sviten Special and pineapple open-face Chinese poker.

For many players, today began with a pool party on the seventh and top floor of the yacht housing the casino and hotel. Players were sharing drinks, laughs, sun and water with friends they made on the tables during the festival and also had a chance to meet new people.

During the party, a few Scandinavian players were talking about a potential prop bet involving the outcome of Sweden vs. Finland in the Ice Hockey World Championship taking place tonight. The PokerNews Live Reporting team will keep tabs on whether any interesting side bets take place.

As is usually the case, Brandon Allen will host two televised feature tables with co-hosts popping in and out of the booth. The first table kicks off at 5:40 p.m. CEST (4:40 p.m. BST) and will be streamed on a 20-minute delay with stakes at €1/€2 no-limit on the Cash Game Festival Twitch channel as well as will be broadcasted across multiple media outlets including PokerNews.

One of the players confirmed for the earlier feature table is Ryan Davey (pictured). He shared with PokerNews that he plans to give away 15 percent of his profit to one lucky stream viewer. So it is definitely worth checking in considering he has booked a profit in three of his four televised poker sessions during Cash Game Festivals.

Later in the day, a higher-stakes £2/£5 pot-limit Omaha televised feature table on a 20-minute delay at 8:40 p.m. CEST (7:40 p.m. BST) is planned.

After the sun goes down, players are invited to attend a VIP party nearby the casino at 11 p.m.

The PokerNews Live Reporting is on hand to report on all the excitement during Day 2 complete with recaps, quotes, pictures and videos.
