Champlin Flops Another Set

Level 30 : Blinds 100,000/200,000, 200,000 ante

Spencer Champlin opened to 400,000 from early position with 44 and was then three-bet to 1,100,000 by Cedrric Trevino with KK.

The action folded back around to Champlin who made the call to see a flop of 348, a disaster for Trevino.

Champlin checked his set of fours, and Trevino checked back to see a turn 10. Champlin then led out for 1,350,000 and Trevino quickly called to see the river J.

Champlin then fired again for 4,000,000, which Trevino just called but was then shown the bad news and the sizeable pot was pushed Champlin's way.

Zhang thought about it for a few seconds but eventually decided to let it go and Hendrix was awarded the pot.

Chris Staats

Chris Staats opened to 350,000 with AA and then Spencer Champlin three-bet to 850,000 with AQ.

Then Cedrric Trevino woke up with AK and moved all in behind for 4,390,000. Staats then took his time before he moved in for less, trying to get a call from Champlin, who sniffed it out and quickly got out of the way.

Unfortunately for Staats, the runout of 6K7KJ gave Trevino trip kings to crack his aces and he is sent out in eighth place.

Jerry Yen opened to 350,000 with AQand was called by Spencer Champlin in the small blind with 44.

Charles Sinn then moved all in with KJ and Yen made the call to put him at risk.

The flop of 10A2 gave Yen a big lead with his top pair, leaving Sinn drawing only to runner-runner or a queen for a straight.

Unfortunately for him, the 5A only improved Yen to trips and SInn was eliminated in 9th place as the first casualty at the final table.

Tony Bunch Eliminated in 10th Place ($18,290)

Level 29 : Blinds 80,000/160,000, 160,000 ante
Tony Bunch
Tony Bunch

Tony Bunch opened to 320,000 preflop and was called by Spencer Champlin to see a flop of Q5A.

Bunch continued for 300,000, Champlin called and the two continued to the turn 6. This time Bunch checked to Champlin, who bet 850,000, and after some thought, Bunch made the call.

The river fell the 2 and Bunch checked to Champlin once more, who then placed out four-1,000,000 plaques, enough to cover Bunch who then went deep into the tank.

After close to four intense minutes of deep contemplation, Bunch finally slid out his remaining stack, putting his tournament life on the line.

Champlin then showed him the bad news when he rolled over 55 for a flopped set of fives while Bunch let out a deep sigh and tabled KQ for a pair of queens.

The pot was pushed over to Champlin while Bunch was eliminated in 10th place on the final table bubble.

David Mzareulov Eliminated in 11th Place

Level 29 : Blinds 80,000/160,000, 160,000 ante

Spencer Champlin opened to 320,000 and then David Mzareulov moved all in, which Champlin quickly called to put him at risk.

David Mzareulov: AQ
Spencer Champlin: AK

Mzareulov needed some help to stay alive, but the flop of 386 was of no help, and the K on the turn left him drawing dead. The 10 completed the board and Champlin was pushed the pot while Mzareulov was eliminated in 11th place as the day's first casualty.
