Jones Finds Uexpected Triple

Level 4 : 150/300, 0 ante

A player raised to 600 from under the gun and was called by the two players on his left. Doug Jones then called from middle position, as did Ryan Dodson from the hijack and David Blankenship on the button. The big blind defended as well.

"Seven players, yes, you heard that right, seven players," said the dealer as he fanned a flop of {8-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}. The player to the left of the original raiser saw action checked to him and he bet 2,000. Jones, Dodson, and Blankenship all called, reducing the total number of players proceeding to four.

The turn came {3-Diamonds}. The aggressor on the flop continued with another bet of 6,000. Jones shoved.

Dodson asked for a count, which was totaled to be 8,150. He called, prompting a fold from Blankenship before the early-position player called. Both remaining players with chips in front of them checked the river {a-Clubs} and the dealer asked for all three hands to be exposed.

Doug Jones: {10-Hearts}{9-Hearts}
Ryan Dodson: {j-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}
Early Position: {6-Hearts}{6-Spades}

Jones was in the process of getting out of his seat after tabling his hand, certain his aces and nines with a ten kicker would not be good. However, Dodson had nothing more than a straight and flush draw and the the third player had aces and sixes. Jones sat right back down with newly found life, absorbing what had just happenedas he left the pile of chips that was sent his way exactly as it came for a moment.
