The Eurasian Poker Tour (EAPT) began in 2013 when Marvin Rettenmaier won the first-ever event. Today, a decade later, another player gets to follow in that tradition when a champion is crowned on the final day of the EAPT Barcelona €560 Main Event.
Just 18 players out of a starting field of 357 are still in the hunt for the trophy when Day 3 begins at 12:30 p.m. local time. Fernando Santa Maria finds himself in the same position he was in back on the first day, atop the leaderboard with 1,590,000. The convivial Ariel Galactico is right behind him with 1,545,000, and the two chip leaders will get a good feel for each other today as they are seated side-by-side at the final two tables.

Further down the leaderboard are Mark Buckley (950,000), Carlos Esquerdo (865,000), and Andre Carvalho (610,000). Esquerdo will be looking for his second trophy at Casino Barcelona after taking down the EAPT Cup earlier this week.
The action picks up with 17 minutes remaining in Level 20 with blinds of 10,000-20,000 and a 20,000 big blind ante. Levels will now be 60 minutes long. Players already have €1,900 locked up for making it this far, but they’ll all be chasing the €39,300 top prize and trophy today. The feature table will be streamed on the EAPT’s official YouTube channel as they play down to a winner.
It’s already been an action-packed week here in Barcelona, and it all concludes today with one player hoisting up the trophy. PokerNews will be providing updates throughout the day until a new champion is crowned.
The EAPT Grand Final Cyprus will be held at the Merit Royal Diamond Hotel in North Cyprus from Sept. 5-15, 2024, featuring over $10,000,000 in guaranteed prize pools.
The $3,300 Main Event begins on Sept. 6 and will feature a massive $5,000,000 guaranteed prize pool. For full details, check out the Meditterean Poker Party official website.
The players are taking photos and the televised feature table is being prepared for the start of play.
Day 3 should begin momentarily.
Level: 20
Blinds: 10,000/20,000
Ante: 20,000
Preparations for the final two tables are complete and Day 3 is now underway.
On the first hand of Day 3, Mark Buckley raised to 40,000 from middle position and Jaskirat Singh Bindra called in the hijack, as did big blind Jose Rodriguez.
The flop came 2♣3♦5♣ and action checked to Bindra who bet 60,000. Only Rodriguez called as the K♥ fell on the turn.
Bindra then bet 175,000 and Rodriguez moved all in. Bindra snap-called and showed 3♣3♥ for a set. Rodriguez, though, had 5♠5♥ for a higher set.
The river came the J♣ and Bindra got up from his seat to make his exit. A count of the chips revealed Rodriguez had 545,000 remaining and Bindra had him covered by just 25,000.
The next hand, Andre Carvalho raised to 50,000 under the gun, Buckley called, and Bindra threw in his last chip. Antonio Perez then three-bet to 150,000 in the hijack.
Carvalho came back with an all-in shove, Buckley folded, and Perez snap-called for 480,000.
Jaskirat Singh Bindra: 9♠6♦
Antonio Perez: A♦A♣
Andre Carvalho: A♥K♠
"Good luck, nine-six," Carlos Esquerdo told Bindra heading to the board, which came 2♥8♠Q♣K♠6♠. Perez doubled off Carvalho, while Bindra was sent out in 18th place.
