Justin Bonomo Eliminated in 18th Place ($43,190)

Level 14 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

From under the gun, Justin Bonomo raised to 13,000 and action folded around to Jason Mercier in the big blind. Mercier three-bet to 37,000 before Bonomo moved all in for almost 200,000. Mercier made the call.

Bonomo: {7-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}
Mercier: {a-Clubs}{k-Spades}

The flop was {j-Spades}{8-Clubs}{2-Clubs} and it looked like Bonomo was going to double up again. However, the {k-Hearts} vaulted Mercier into a lead that he would hold through the {10-Hearts} river. Bonomo got up from the table, clearly disappointed, while Mercier stacked up 700,000 worth of chips.

Smith Having a Good Time

Level 14 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

There hasn't been much action known from the outer two tables, but we have heard plenty of Gavin Smith's voice. Smith is often yelling and commenting about various hands or situations at his table. He seems to be making the most of this event and having quite a good time with it. He's been joking with the camera crew and the tournament staff along with the other players at his table, helping to lighten to mood of the event.

Seidel Takes Some From Habib

Level 14 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

Hasan Habib raised under the gun and was called by only Erik Seidel from the big blind.

The flop was {5-Hearts}{7-Spades}{10-Hearts} and Seidel checked. Habib continued for 27,000 which was called by Seidel. The turn was the {7-Clubs} and both players checked. The turn was the {k-Diamonds} and both players checked again. Seidel tabled {a-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} which was good enough to ship the pot.

Bonomo Doubles Again

On the very next hand after his double up on the first hand, Justin Bonomo had his money in again. Bonomo held the {A-Diamonds}{J-Spades}.

The board ran out {A-Spades}{10-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{3-Clubs} and Bonomo doubled.

Bonomo Doubles on the First Hand

Level 13 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

From the cutoff, Hasan Habib raised to 12,500 first into the pot. Action folded to Justin Bonomo in the big blind and he made the call.

The flop came down {j-Spades}{2-Hearts}{8-Clubs} and Bonomo checked. Habib fired out 14,000 and Bonomo moved all in for just 15,500 more. Habib called to put Bonomo at risk.

Habib: {a-Hearts}{9-Hearts}
Bonomo: {q-Spades}{j-Diamonds}

The turn {9-Diamonds} gave Habib some extra outs but ultimately the {k-Clubs} river bricked off.

Bonomo is now up to 90,000 while Habib falls to 603,500.

Trickett Tops Last 18; Final Table in Sight

It's almost time for Day 3 here at the Epic Poker League's inaugural Main Event. The final 18 players are all in the money and guaranteed at least $43,000 and some change for their work so far, but there's still plenty of poker to be played if they want to win the $1,000,000 first-place prize that's up for grabs. After play was ver last night, the players voted to remove $17,340 from second place's payday and add it to the top spot in order to make it an even seven figures. Now the winner can officially say he won a cool million.

You can find the table draw for the final 18 below in the blog. Sam Trickett boasts the largest stack at 1.032 million in chips. he's the only person over one million and holds nearly a 400,000-chip lead over Hasan Habib in second place. Isaac Baron, Erik Seidel and Adam Levy round out the top five spots.

On the short stack is Justin Bonomo with 42,000. That's right, Bonomo made it to the money with less than the starting stack of 50,000, but a couple of doubles and he'll be right back in the thick of it. Dan Fleyshman and Huck Seed are the other two players with under 100,000 in chips. All three of these players will be looking to get after some chips early before the blinds and antes eat up their stacks, but one good thing is the structure of the event allows for a lot of play and very gradual blind increases.

Play for today will last until the final table of six is reached. Filming of all three tables will be going on all day and although PokerNews' access is a bit limited, we'll be bringing you as much action as we can. Stay tuned as the cards will be in the air shortly!
