Firesnake Eliminated

Firesnake
Firesnake
Imre 'Firesnake' Alfoldi (Poker News qualifier from Hungary) was short-stacked for most of Day 1, but somehow, he managed to hang on and advance to Day 2. The bad news was that he began Day 2 as the shortest stack remaining in the tournament. Although he outlasted about a dozen or so other players, he just busted out.

Firesnake moved all in from the button for his last 800. The small blind and big blind both called and checked it down. The board ran out {J-Clubs} {9-Hearts} {5-Hearts} {3-Spades} {K-Hearts} . Firesnake held {10-Diamonds} {9-Diamonds}. Francesco Cirianni from the big blind won the pot with {K-Clubs} {5-Hearts} and Firesnake was eliminated.

Cooler for Chris Moorman

As expected, the early action has been fast and furious, with the shorter stacks not in the slightest bit shy to get their chips in the middle in hope of a double up.

In a raised pot, Chris Moorman, Luca Pagano and Benjamin Lebor saw an {8-Hearts} {Q-Hearts} {8-Spades} flop. It checked around to Lebor who bet 6,000. Pagano folded, but Lebor called, and he was behind.

Lebor: {J-Hearts} {J-Spades}
Moorman: {A-Diamonds} {A-Spades}

Turn: {2-Hearts}

"Flush!" called Lebor.

River: {5-Hearts}

Lebor: "WOAH! UNBELIEVABLE!"

Indeed Lebor had made runner-runner flush, and Moorman was out, shaking his head. Lebor turned to Luca Pagano next to him: "Sorry about that, boy, I'm not usually a screamer."

PokerStars.com EPT Budapest Day 2 Begins

Chip leader Mauro Corsetti
Chip leader Mauro Corsetti
Hello and welcome back to the comforting confines of the Las Vegas Casino, Budapest, where a grand total of 182 survivors from Days 1a and 1b will be getting down to the serious business of battling it out for poker supremacy and a share of the €2,128,000 prize pool.

Hoary-haired Italian Mauro Corsetti leads the pack, but he shouldn't feel too complacent as the Norwegian wunderkind Annette Obrestad and EPT title holder Arnaud Mattern are hot on his heels. Other notables who made it safely over all the Day 1 hurdles include French veteran Paul Testud, French whippersnapper Ludovic Lacay, always-the-bridesmaid-never-the-bride Johnny Lodden and EPT Live's own siren of the exit interview, Kara Scott.

The full list of Day 2 starters is below; join us here at Pokernews from 1pm local time to see who makes the money and who gets themselves a few days in Budapest with nothing much to do.
