Welsh Win

Roberto Romanello has managed to get a vital double-up at this late stage, pushing for 20,000 over the top of a 6,000 raise and getting someone else to push behind. Romanello flipped {K-Hearts} {K-Spades} and was up against Salvatore Bonavena's {J-Spades} {J-Diamonds}. The board came a favorable {9-Hearts} {6-Hearts} {2-Hearts} for the Welshman, with the turn and river {10-Spades} and {7-Diamonds} sealing it.

Bubble Bursts

The unfortunate player to feel the splash of the bubble is Erich Kollmann. All in with {A-?}{Q-?}, Kollmann ran into the pocket kings of Rifat Palevic and failed to improve on a raggy board.

The announcement of this hand resulted in a ripple of cheers and high-fives. As I stood there alone, I searched relentlessly for somebody to celebrate with, but alas, nobody was interested.

And Here Come the Exits...

After the ripple that was the bubble, the tidal waves of exits that were expected to follow have started to come in. Paolo Grossi was knocked out by Joris Jaspers, whose {J-?} {2-?} made two pair to bust the Italian.

Oskar Silow was knocked out by Haward Speer so quickly that we didn't get to see anything other than the {A-Clubs} {Q-Spades} in front of Speer.

Peter Hedlund doubled up with {J-?} {J-?} against the Hoffmeister himself, Steven van Zadelhoff, whose {A-?} {7-?} couldn't crack the knaves.
