Wolfe Chop

On the river of a {A-Diamonds} {J-Clubs} {9-Hearts} {J-Spades} {6-Diamonds} board, Roland De Wolfe raises a 1,500 bet to 5,000 against his opponent. After a long think, his opponents makes the call and De Wolfe flips {A-Hearts} {K-Diamonds} and gets shown {A-Clubs} {K-Clubs}.

The hint of a large pot going to the former EPT and WSOP bracelet winner is dashed and he's forced to settle for a split.

Mercier Has an Up and Down Beginning

Jason Mercier can be seen seated next to fellow team member Macin Horecki towards the back corner of the tournament room. Just recently Mercier was involved in a couple of hands.

First, on a board of {A-Diamonds} {Q-Clubs} {8-Diamonds} {3-Clubs}, Mercier checked to his opponent. The player fired a bet of 1,225. Mercier made the call. The river brought the {5-Hearts} and Mercier checked. His opponent quickly checked behind.

"Nuts." announced Jason, as he turned over the {4-Diamonds} {2-Diamonds}. His opponent shook his head in disgust as he saw Mercier missed his flush draw but backed into a wheel.

On the next hand, Mercier opened with a raise to 250 from early position. His opponent from the previous hand called from the cutoff seat and the player in the big blind called as well. The flop came down {Q-Spades} {7-Spades} {4-Hearts} and action checked to the cutoff. He fired a bet of 1,200. The big blind folded, but Mercier came along.

The turn brought the {5-Spades} and Mercier checked. His opponent fired 2,550 this time and Mercier again made the call. After the river fell the {2-Spades}, Mercier checked once more. The cutoff seat fired a small bet of 1,000 by tossing a single red chip into the middle. Mercier tossed in one of his own red chips to make the call.

The cutoff tabled {K-Spades} {Q-Hearts} and Mercier mucked his hand. Mercier dropped to 23,000 chips on the hand.

No Mercy for Mercier

Undeterred, Jason Mercier reraised to 875 on the button after a raise from the cutoff, but the gent on the cutoff liked his hand enough to re-pop Mercier for 3,150. After a moment's consideration, Mercier gave it up.

Langmann 5-Bet Folds...

Florian Langmann raises to 400 from early position and the player to his left makes it 900. It's passed to the big blind who reraises to 2,150.

The action returns to the German who made it 5,900 with about 27,000 behind. The middle player folded and the big blind said, "I'm sorry but I'm all-in."

Langmann dwelt for two minutes before throwing his cards in the muck having put in nearly 6,000 of his stack without even seeing a flop.

Spindler Takes a Knock

Benny Spindler's taken a bit of a hit, and is currently perched on a 24,000 stack, a look of distinct consternation about his face.

There seems to have been an under the gun raise followed by a call from the button. Over to Spindler in the small blind who reraised. Both under-the-gun and button called, and they saw a flop.

Flop: {Q-Spades} {8-Diamonds} {3-Hearts}

Spindler bet out 3,000 and the original raiser passed. A flat call from the button later, though, and they saw a turn.

Turn: a harmless-looking {5-Clubs}

Spindler went into the tank for a few moments before checking. The button bet 5,200 -- and Spindler rewarded him with an insta-fold.
