Here Comes the Champ

Last season's champion, Sebastian Ruthenberg
Last season's champion, Sebastian Ruthenberg
The board read {K-Spades} {7-Clubs} {4-Hearts} {J-Clubs} when Sebastian Ruthenberg called a bet from his opponent. The river brought the {2-Spades} and action was checked to Ruthenberg this time. He slid out a tall stack of red T1,000 chips, enough to put his opponent all in. The player hesitated and then mucked. Ruthenberg is now back over his starting amount and has nearly 40,000 chips.

Faraz Jaka, known affectionately online as 'The Toilet' is another of today's big stacks so far. He's up to 67,000.

Twitter Chatter

While sitting out of hands, Jason Mercier and fellow team member Marcin Horecki have been chatting it up quite often. A recent conversation was overhard where Horecki asked Mercier if he uses Twitter. Mercier said he did, but not often. Horecki mentioned, "They told us to start using it as pros, so people can follow."

Mercier nodded and the two began exchanging their various opinions on Twitter. Mercier seems to be somewhat blah about it, while Horecki is liking it the more he learns and figures out.

Mercier Wins Some Back

From the hijack seat, late-middle position, or whatever you want to call it, Jason Mercier raised to 500. The player in the big blind made the call. This is the same player that Mercier tangled with in two hands early on in the day.

The flop came down {7-Spades} {7-Diamonds} {2-Diamonds}. The big blind checked and Mercier fired 675. The big blind took the chip off his cards and double checked his hand. He then placed the chip back on the card and made the call.

The turn brought the {4-Spades} and both players checked. The river was the {K-Spades} and Mercier fired 1,425 after it was checked to him. The big blind folded his hand, and Mercier raked in the pot. He's now back to 29,000 chips.

Lodden Back Down

Not long after upping his stack to 24,000, Johnny Lodden is back down to 17,000.

He checked a {6-Spades} {Q-Hearts} {Q-Diamonds} flop and then raised to 4,500 when his opponent put in a 1,500 bet. His opponent called though, and after checking down the {2-Spades} turn and {J-Spades} river, Lodden mucked to his opponent's pocket kings.

How Are the Hougaards?

Hougaard: Jesper
Hougaard: Jesper
Yikes, Jesper Hougaard's stack seems to be shrinking faster than we can report it. We're not sure what the latest tragedy to befall him was, but he's now down to a mere 3,600 in chips, and looks very glum indeed.

Meanwhile his brother Lars is having rather better a time of it -- he's up to 35,000.

Dragan Can Roar

Dragan Galic is up to 64,000 after picking several large pots on his table, certainly he has taken much of Arnaud Mattern's stack who is down to just 10,000 or so.

Walthaus All Over the Place

Jorn Walthaus' roller coaster day continues.

He'd dropped down to around his starting stack before getting involved on a {6-Diamonds} {K-Hearts} {9-Spades} {6-Hearts} {2-Clubs} board with an opponent who eventually folded when Walthaus bet 4,625 on the river. Walthaus showed him {K-Spades} {Q-Spades}, and bumped his stack back up to 36,000.

Small Pot for Horecki

From under the gun, Marcin Horecki raised to 675. The player in the small blind called and Jason Mercier called in the big blind. The flop came down {K-Diamonds} {J-Spades} {5-Hearts}.

The small blind checked and then Mercier checked. Horecki bet out 1,225. First, the small blind folded and then Mercier folded from the big blind position. Horecki increased his stack a little bit and now has 27,000 chips.

Ro-lands A Big Pot

Roland de Wolfe raises to 925 and get two callers, including Dragan Galic before the cutoff reraised to 2,350. All three called the reraise and they saw a {9-Diamonds} {8-Diamonds} {2-Clubs} flop, de Wolfe led out for 7,000 quickly and the other three folded, though the cut-off looked incredibly reluctant to do so.
