Gotta Katchalov 'Em All

After spending a large chunk of the day trying to find Mr. Eugene Katchalov, we eventually found him seated at a table with JC Tran.

"That's not Eugene Katchalov," said JC Tran as press members conferred, "That's his cousin David. Eugene played yesterday." None of what Mr. Tran was saying was true, though, and Mr. Katchalov is on 50,000.

And Back The Other Way...

A double up back for Peter Hedlund against Toni Ojala regaining those chips soon after, Hedlund hitting a King with {K-?} {Q-?} against the Finnish EPT Barcelona finalist's {Q-?} {Q-?} to save his tournament life.

Ojala Doubles Through a Muttering Hedlund

Peter Hedlund, already in a pretty foul mood after getting outdrawn a little earlier, is now absolutely fuming after doubling up Toni Ojala. The chips went in on the flop.

Hedlund: {A-Hearts} {Q-Hearts}
Ojala: {K-Hearts} {J-Hearts}

Board: {2-Hearts} {8-Hearts} {J-Spades} {7-Spades} {7-Clubs}

Hedlund seemed to be ruing not raising more preflop, and was attempting to work out his odds of winning the hand on the flop as we left.

Hedlund - 12,000
Ojala - 44,000

Mercier Moves Into the Bad Day Camp

Jason Mercier isn't having a very nice day either -- he's down to 11,200 after doubling up another player. The board read {J-?} {K-?} {8-?} {4-?} {A-?} and the gent doubling up was holding pocket jacks. Mercier was holding something that looked awfully like pocket eights (the dealer mucked it very quickly and it could possibly have been {8-?} {9-?}, but we're going to give Mr. Mercier the benefit of the doubt) for a nasty set-over-set unavoidability type situation.

Still Having Fun...

The banter continues to fly on the Channing/Scott Fischman/Matt Stout table. A photographer was taking a photo of Channing who said, "Get one of me and Scott!" despite Fischman being in a hand where he called a flop bet on a {6-Diamonds} {3-Spades} {8-Clubs}.

Fischman and Channing posed for a jokey photo as the former's opponent moved all-in on the {9-Spades} turn. Instantly Fischman jumped out of the pose, quickly calling the all-in and turning over {7-Spades} {5-Spades} for the second nuts leaving the other player drawing dead holding {Q-Diamonds} {Q-Hearts}.

{3-Hearts} on the river changed nothing but it's all smiles on this table - apart from the player who just busted.

Shakerchi Gets His Man

Awesomely-named Dutchman Denny Man is busto.

He was holding {J-Clubs} {K-Clubs} and feeling confident enough about the {6-Clubs} {J-Diamonds} {4-Clubs} flop to put his whole stack on the line. Native Brit Talal Shakerchi, though, was holding {Q-Diamonds} {Q-Spades}, and after Man failed to hit anything on the {3-Spades} turn or {A-Hearts} river, he headed for the rail.

Shakerchi is up to 65,000.
