Day 1b Cometh
Yesterday saw a strong field of 219 kick off this event, the third go-round for the EPT here in the Czech Republic. Inaugural champion Arnaud Mattern was in the building, and he managed to build a stack of 86,000 to put himself right in the mix for another deep run. We've seen defending champ Salvatore Bonavena wandering around the corridors of the hotel, so we'll likely see him in action today as he tries to repeat his title.
Marc Gork slipped into the chip lead last night, edging out Rui Cao by just one black chip. The field will no doubt be larger today, and the chances to accumulate chips will be many.
The players have just begun to trickle into the tournament area and take their seats as we're about 15 minutes away from the starting gun. Along with Bonavena, we'll have a number of notables in the building today, including about a dozen Team PokerStars Pros.
Sit tight, we'll be back with the 'shuffle up and deal' shortly.
