Mathias Kuerschner Eliminated in 18th Place (€23,500)

Mathias Kuerschner - 18th Place
Mathias Kuerschner - 18th Place
Mathias Kuerschner raised to 80,000 and then Norman Kastner reraised to 210,000. Kuerschner moved all in and Kastner called. Kuerschner was all in for about 475,000 chips.

Kuerschner held {A-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds} and was racing for his tournament life again the {J-Hearts}{J-Clubs} for Kastner.

The board ran out {10-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{K-Hearts}{7-Clubs} and Kastner made a straight as his jacks held to send Kuerschner to the rail in 18th place.

Behling Adds a Nice Pot

On the flop of {J-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{6-Spades}, Kethal Nathwani bet 105,000 into Nico Behling. Behling raised the bet up to 280,000 and after a few minutes in the tank, Nathwani called.

The turn brought the {3-Hearts} and Nathwani passed over to Behling. He fired 475,000 chips and Nathwani tank-folded his hand allowing Behling to add about 400,000 chips to his stack.

Ketul Leaking

Nico Behling raised to 72,000 under the gun and found a caller in Ketul Nathwani.

Flop: {10-Hearts} {7-Hearts} {5-Diamonds} - Behling asked Nathwani if he had him covered, and after determining that he did, Behling checked. Nathwani bet 120,000, and Behling called.

Turn: {K-Hearts} - Same story, different street. Behling checked, Nathwani bet 305,000, and Behling flatted.

River: {4-Clubs} - Take three. Behling checked, and Nathwani slid out a big chunk of his chips, 730,000 to be exact. "Call," said Behling, and Nathwani immediately rapped the table. Nathwani tabled {A-Diamonds} {J-Spades} for nothing but ace high. Behling had two pair with {K-Spades} {10-Diamonds}, more then good enough to take down the huge pot. After the massive bluff, Nathwani is down to 850,000. Behling has jumped into second with 3.3 million. He's still well behind chip leader Kevin MacPhee, who has 5 million.

Lennart Holz Eliminated in 17th Place (€23,500)

Ilari Tahkokallio raised to 100,000 from the button, but Lennart Holz made it 200,000 from the big blind. Tahkokallio four-bet to put him in, Holz called all in, and they flipped the cards.

Holz: {A-Spades} {J-Spades}
Tahkokallio: {8-Clubs} {9-Clubs}

Board: {5-Spades} {4-Clubs} {2-Clubs} {9-Diamonds} {Q-Clubs}

Perhaps it was karma repaying Tahkokallio for his gentlemanly behaviour in honouring Cainelli's all-in after the robbery, although that seems a little unfair on Holz. Either way, though, Tahkokallio made a flush to put him up to 3.1 million, and Holz headed for the rail.

Preflop Battle for Chips

In the later stages of tournaments, picking up the blinds and antes to add them to your stack is a crucial part of tournament poker. In the last 20 minutes or so, there has been a series of raises preflop, but other players at the table are fighting back with three-bets. Some of those three-bets are even being four-bet and the constant fight for chips in preflop action heats up.

Here's a look at some recent hands where this has happened.

Evgeniy Zaytsev raised to 88,000 from the cutoff seat and then Artur Wasek reraised from the button to 200,000 to win the pot.

Kevin MacPhee raised from under the gun to 88,000 before Stefan Huber reraised to 206,000 from the cutoff seat. Marko Neumann was in the small blind and four-bet shoved. MacPhee and Huber both folded.

Marcel Koller raised to 85,000 from middle position and folded after Carsten Joh three-bet to 200,000 from the button.

Stefan Huber raised to 80,000 from the hijack and then Norman Kastner three-bet from the cutoff to 255,000 and won the pot.

Carsten Joh raised from middle position to 95,000 and then Paul Thomas Otto reraised all in from the small blind. Everyone folded and Otto was pushed the pot.

"Shut Up!" Works for Amendola

Evgeniy Zaytsev opened to 75,000 from the cutoff, and Alfonso Amendola moved all in from the big blind for just 330,000. He'd just been crippled by doubling up Ketul Nathwani. Zaytsev called.

Showdown
Zaytsev: {K-Clubs} {Q-Clubs}
Amendola: {10-Diamonds} {10-Clubs}

Zaytsev's large Russian rail was screaming for kings and queens. "Shut up!" shouted Amendola. The flop came {6-Diamonds} {5-Diamonds} {3-Clubs}. More calling for paint. "Shutttt uppp!" The turn was the {9-Diamonds}. Cheering continues. Yelling "shut up" continues. The river was the {Q-Diamonds}, and at first Amendola thought he was out. Then he noticed his four flush and celebrated his double up by shaking hands with the railers who had called for his very helpful queen. Amendola is up to over 700,000. Zaytsev is down to 1.3 million.

Ilya Gorodetskiy Eliminated in 16th Place (€25,000)

Marc Inizan raised to 90,000 under the gun and Ilya Gorodetskiy shoved for 750,000. While a bunch of Russians at the rail, including Alex Kravchenko and Mikhail Tulchinskiy, were loudly relating tales of how they ran away from the robbers and giggling, their boy was suddenly at risk - Inizan made the call.

Inizan: {A-Hearts} {J-Spades}
Gorodetskiy: {A-Clubs} {K-Clubs}

Board: {Q-Clubs} {J-Diamonds} {A-Diamonds} {4-Clubs} {2-Spades}

The Russians were suddenly struck dumb as Gorodetskiy was outdrawn and headed to the rail.
