How to Win EPTs: Hit a Two Outer

Carter Phillips
Carter Phillips
A player raised from middle position to 625 before the player on the button reraised to 2,025. Carter Phillips was in the small blind and four-bet to 4,600. The original raiser folded and then the button five-bet to 11,000. He only had a few thousand left after he put in the reraise. Phillips moved all in and his opponent called.

Philips: {Q-Clubs}{Q-Spades}
Opponent: {K-Hearts}{K-Clubs}

The flop came down {8-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{5-Hearts} and Phillips stayed behind. The turn brought the {9-Hearts} and Phillips was still looking for a queen.

Like an angel from above, the {Q-Diamonds} hit the felt on the river, nailing Phillips with his two outer and giving him the pot. From worst to first went Phillips with an elimination of his opponent and a boost in his stack to 53,000 chips.

Phillips has been seen catching some short naps in between hands at the table due to feeling a bit under the weather. "THat gave me a nice boost and woke me up," said Phillips. "I feel energized now."

A moment later, Phillips looked up at one of the players across the table who was smiling and said, "That's how you win EPTs."
