Getting Bække All the Time

Allan Bække (small blind) and one opponent (button) saw a {J-Clubs} {8-Clubs} {5-Clubs} flop. Bække checked and his opponent bet 1,000, but Bække now made it 2,350. Mr. Button spent a long while considering his options, and eventually folded, leaving himself with around 15,000 and a sour expression on his face.

Bække is flying high on around 50,000.

Florian Floored

Langmann in trouble
Langmann in trouble
David Lloyd raised preflop to 525 and Andre Santos called before Florian Langmann bumped it up to 2,200 from the button. Rony Halimi reraised to 6,000 in the big blind quickly making Lloyd and Santos fold. Langmann asked how much Halimi had back before setting his opponent all-in, the Frenchman snap-called.

Halimi: {A-Hearts} {A-Spades}
Langmann: {Q-Spades} {Q-Hearts}

The board of {6-Spades} {K-Diamonds} {J-Hearts} {A-Hearts} {8-Hearts} meant Langmann lost a huge chunk of his stack as Halimi doubled up to 36,000.

On Yer Bus

That pesky volcanic cloud spinning off Iceland has grounded all flights out of the United Kingdom until at least 6:00pm this evening. That presents a problem for a number of players who are stuck now in London en route to this event, stuck either at the airport or at Paddington Station. Among those stranded without a way here are Peter Eastgate, Jason Mercier, Barry Greenstein, James Akenhead, and Chris Moorman.

PokerStars to the rescue!

From our spot in the media room, we can hear the staff scrambling to come up with a good solution. They've just booked a coach bus in London, and it's going to pick up the players and start the trek towards San Remo. We figure it's about 20 hours by bus, so we expect to see a few sleep-eyed players roll in at about 12:15pm tomorrow. That'll give them just enough time to take their seats before registration closes.

Talk about cutting it close. Either way, we'd give a day's wages to be on that bus ride.

Potenza Fails to Realize Potential

Nicola Potenza - Nicola is a man's name if you're Italian, which amuses and delights your English-speaking bloggers - got his last in against Stefan Matsson. However, both players turned out to be holding {A-?} {K-?} and although Potenza had the potential to make a flush when two spades came on the flop, by the turn they'd established that they were chopping the pot and both players took their chips back.

Hansen Is Defeated By A Marlin

It's a diaster for Martin Bjerring Hansen, he has just lost a 60,000 pot all-in preflop with {A-Diamonds} {A-Clubs} against {A-Spades} {J-Spades} belonging to one Riccardo Marlin.

The flop of {Q-Hearts} {Q-Spades} {6-Diamonds} looked safe enough and while the {J-Hearts} turn might have caused a little anxiety, the {J-Diamonds} meant the Dane would've kicked the cat out of the window (if there were cats allowed in the tournament area).

Hansen is left with about 11,000 and looked a bit annoyed.

Five Eight Five

Registration has been closed since the conclusion of the second level, and we've got a number for you.

Day 1a of the EPT San Remo has drawn a total of 585 runners, and that should put us well on pace to eclipse the 1,200-player cap. Of those starting runners, about 515 remain as level four winds down.

Marlin No Fish

Finnish EPT fixture Tommi Etelapera opened for a chunky 1,200, but Riccardo Marlin made it 5,000 from the button. Back to Etelapera, who folded with a grin. Marlin showed him pocket queens, just to prove that he wasn't messing about after his rather fortunate outdraw incident earlier.

"I folded aces," lied another player at the table - it seems that Marlin has now firmly established himself as Luckiest Player At The Table. "For you, I fold aces. Maybe jokers."
