Cody-Breaker

Jake Cody opened UTG to 825, Joep van den Bijgaart made the call, as did Mattias Andersson and Fabrizio Marcialis.

Konstantin Shelegov then decided to ruin the party by raising to 5,400. Cody thought and then made the call but everyone else folded.

The flop was {K-Hearts} {J-Hearts} {5-Clubs} and both players checked carefully. On the {K-Spades} turn Shelegov bet 8,000 and Cody called, allowing us to see a {3-Hearts} river.

Both players checked again and Shelegov showed {A-Spades} {K-Clubs}, Cody mucked what he later said was Queens.

Double Delight For Demidov

Ivan Demidov bet 3,050 on a {7-Clubs} {9-Clubs} {3-Diamonds} before Roman Gorskiy check-raised to 7,000. Demidov responded by moving all-in and Gorskiy thought for a while before calling, tabling {A-Clubs} {10-Clubs}. Demidov flipped {7-Hearts} {7-Spades} and managed to hold on the {10-Spades} turn and {6-Diamonds} river to rocket up to about 60,000.

The PokerStars Express

It's here!

The hastily organized PokerStars shuttle bus that left London last night has finally arrived in San Remo carrying a small group of tired-looking players. Registration was held open for these latecomers, but at least one or two of them headed straight to their rooms rather than to the registration desk.

Here's who was on board the PokerStars Express, as we're calling it:
Jason Mercier
Dan O'Brien
Allen Bari
Peter Eastgate
Barry Greenstein
... and a massage therapist

Sounds like a pretty good ratio to us. It also sounds like they had one hell of a long bus ride down here, and we'll have to wait and see whether or not they're up for playing some poker this evening.

Blog it For Us

All right, guys, let's try this again!

Occasionally, we catch a hand with limited information, or a second-hand recollection of a pot from another player. When we're in this spot, we have to try and relay the hand cleverly, using what little information we have. You want a shot at this? Head over to our Facebook page and tell us how you'd write up this hand in the "Comment" field.

Here comes another pot, this time with less detail than yesterday's full hand history:

Derek Lerner: (under the gun) RAISE to 800
Luca Moschitta (Team PokerStars Online, unknown position): CALL
Pierre Ruscalla (unknown position) RAISE to 3200
Derek Lerner: CALL
Luca Moschitta: FOLD

Flop: {K-?} {Q-?} {8-?}

Lerner: Calls the floor RE: a loud interview taking place near his table. Floor moves interviewers, but still directly behind Lerner's chair.

Lerner: CHECK
Ruscalla: BET 6800

Table talk (Lerner, further complaining about the interview).

Lerner: RAISE (ALL IN)

Ruscalla (with 15,000 behind): TANK-FOLD

Table talk (Ruscala): "I folded ace-king."

Lerner: tells us he held {8-?} {8-?}

Level: 6

Blinds: 200/400

Jelassi The Scholar

Never let a poker tournament interfere with your studies...

Ramzi Jelassi is deeply engrossed in a Swedish Economics book. "I have an exam on Tuesday, I have to prepare."

"But what happens if you make Day 5?" asked John Eames. "Just donk off your chips now please!"

Ramzi replied, "If I miss the exam, I'll just have to take it at a later date...Which would be bad, I've done no studying at all."

Cascarino Scoring Plenty of Goals

Tony Cascarino, not here for long owing to a probably hilarious train ride with Michael Greco after their flight was cancelled, has wasted no time in bumping his stack up to 75,000. Most of this seems to have come from an enormous pot we just caught the end of.

By the time we got there, the board read {5-Clubs} {5-Hearts} {3-Clubs} {10-Hearts} {6-Diamonds} and the pot was already huge; Cascarino was betting 20,000 into it. His opponent eventually folded, and Cascarino silently took back his chips.
