Chartier Times Two

Sam Chartier
Sam Chartier
We joined the action in a heads-up pot as the dealer ran out a flop of {7-Spades} {5-Diamonds} {8-Diamonds}. Action was on Claudio Pollin, and he continued out with a bet of 1,100. Sam Chariter made a quick call.

The turn brought the {4-Spades} and another bet from Pollin, 2,100 this time. After a bit of a pause, Chartier raised to 5,100, and Pollin instantly flicked two yellow chips off his stack for a re-raise to 12,100. That sent Chartier into the tank for about two minutes before he grabbed his chips and moved all in for 16,600. It was just 4,500 more to Pollin, but he clearly did not want to call. Eventually, and reluctantly, he dropped the extra chips into the pot. Cards up, gentlemen:

Chatier: {5-Hearts} {6-Hearts}

.....

Cards up, gentlemen! It took a little more prodding to get Pollin to show his hand. Eventually, he tried to muck them, but the dealer pulled his {J-Clubs} {J-Hearts} off the table and flipped it up; he was drawing dead.

The {2-Clubs} on the river didn't counterfeit the deck, and Chartier's double up is legal and valid. He's shot back to about 38,000 courtesy of that pot.
