Two Tidbits

The Oracle
The Oracle
EPT Copenhagen champion Anton Wigg is up to about 115,000 chips after dragging a small pot with pocket eights. The board showed {A-Clubs} {6-Spades} {J-Clubs} {J-Diamonds} {4-Hearts} when Wigg called a river bet from Damien Rony. Rony could only show queen-high, and Wigg stacked the pot without a word.

Roy Winston is doing even better than that. We walked up to his table to see a board of {Q-Diamonds} {8-Diamonds} {8-Clubs} {5-Clubs} {3-Spades} and more than 55,000 chips in the pot. Rainer Meyer had checked on fifth street, and Winston fired 37,000 as his wife kept a close eye on things from the rail. Meyer would tank for at least four or five minutes, clearly debating a tough decision. Finally, and reluctantly, he slid his cards into the muck.

"Two kings," said Winston as he dragged the pot towards him. Meyer seemed unconvinced. We're not sure whether or not we believe him either, but the fact that he has about 155,000 chips is undebatable.

Winston's bride came over and gave him quite the tableside kiss before whooshing back into the sea of spectators. "She shows up, I always get lucky," Roy added.

We love a good double entendre too.
