It's Trickett To Rock A Rhyme...

Just at the end of the last level, Sam Trickett opened preflop to 3,200, David Steicke called, as did the button before the small blind reraised to 15,000. Trickett made it 26,000 and Steicke and the button both folded while the small blind quickly called.

The flop was drier than the Atacama desert, coming {K-Clubs} {7-Spades} {2-Hearts} and the small blind check-called Trickett's measly 10,500 bet. The {5-Spades} came on the turn and again the small blind checked, and Trickett bet 22,000 with just 25,000 behind despite the hugeness of the pot. This time the small blind folded and Trickett now has 137,000

Sarwer Grapes

Jeff Sarwer
Jeff Sarwer

Jeff Sarwer was just on the wrong end of some coinflippage. Young Ben Vinson (not that there's necessarily an Old Ben Vinson but I digress) was all-in for 39,100 with {A-Clubs} {Q-Clubs} against Sarwer's {J-Hearts} {J-Spades} and managed to double up to 80,000 when the board {6-Spades} {4-Clubs} {A-Spades} {4-Diamonds} {K-Diamonds}.

No Cheddar For Queso Today

Jim Collopy
Jim Collopy

On the last hand of the level, Jim Collopy got his 43,300 remaining chips into the pot on a three-bet shove. The gentleman two seats to his right had opened the pot to 4,100 before the shove, and he tank-called to put Collopy at risk.

"Pair!" said Collopy, slamming over his {2-Spades} {2-Hearts}, content to flip for double or nothing. His opponent showed up {A-Spades} {9-Clubs}, and the race was on.

The flop was safe for "Mr_BigQueso", coming out {Q-Clubs} {10-Hearts} {Q-Spades}, but the turn {9-Spades} left him dead to two outs. The river {3-Hearts} was close but no cigar, and that's the end of Collopy's day.

Demidov Doubles with the Worst Hand

Meh
Meh

The gentleman in the hijack raised to 3,800 - and we noticed a little blogger's tell, as in our experience players only look bloggers in the eye when they have a monster, and the hijack gent was staring right at us. Still, undeterred, Ivan Demidov in the cutoff reraised to 10,300. Sure enough the action folded back around to Hijack Gentleman, who four-bet to 26,500.

Demidov tanked up long enough for the clock to be called, but within milliseconds of the word "clock" being uttered he'd gone all in. On their backs.

Demidov: {7-Hearts}{7-Spades}
Hijack Gentleman: extremely ahead with {q-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}

But actually, it turned out well for Demidov.

Board: {6-Spades}{2-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{k-Spades}{a-Spades}

Demidov made a four flush and doubled to around 95,000. That, my friends, is how you win tournaments.
