Carron Goes to the Crows

Patrick Carron was rather unfortunate to bust out. He got it in with {a-Hearts}{9-Spades} from the big blind to small blind Artur Wasek's {6-Diamonds}{3-Spades}.

Flop: {k-Spades}{9-Hearts}{4-Spades}

Turn: {7-Diamonds}

"Five!" called out Wasek.

River: {5-Spades}

Ask, and ye shall apparently receive. Wasek laughed hysterically as Carron took his leave, and the EPT Berlin finalist is up to 590,000.

Bari Doesn't Always Win These Things

Allen Bari has a great squeeze
Allen Bari has a great squeeze

Allen Bari raised to 22,500 in the hijack; next door in the cutoff Rumit Somaiya reraised to what looked like 83,000. Bari went all in, Somaiya called and was soon laughing as they both turned over pocket queens.

Bari: {q-Clubs}{q-Hearts}
Somaiya: {q-Spades}{q-Diamonds}

"I'm really good at winning these," warned Bari, but in the end they chopped it up.

Board: {a-Spades}{4-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{5-Spades}

Phil Ivey Eliminated

Phil Ivey
Phil Ivey

A short-stacked Phil Ivey pushed all-in preflop with {A-Spades} {J-Clubs} and was quickly called by chip leader Jamie Brown's {K-Spades} {K-Hearts}.

As the cameras jostled for position the board came out {J-Spades} {3-Clubs} {3-Spades} {8-Hearts} {8-Diamonds} and Ivey was knocked out. Brown now has 1.5 million in chips and the satisfaction of knocking out someone he considered the best player in the tournament.

Sheringham Sent Off

Teddy Sheringham
Teddy Sheringham

We picked up the action a bit late, joining as the dealer put the turn card down on a board showing {A-Clubs} {A-Spades} {4-Hearts} {2-Clubs}. Kevin Eyster led out with a bet from the small blind, and big blind Teddy Sheringham moved all in for just a couple thousand on top. Eyster called quickly with {A-Diamonds} {7-Diamonds}, and that was bad news for the footballer. Sheringham tabled {Q-Diamonds} {4-Diamonds}, drawing dead with one card to come.

It was handshakes and "good luck" all around as the {3-Spades} filled out the board, and Sheringham is out after another respectable run into the money.

Brown Takes a Chance

Thanks to our roving reporter Gloria Balding for this little gem.

Chad Brown went all in with {k-Clubs}{6-Spades} and was called by Chance Kornuth, who had naturally found {a-}{a-}. Not looking good for the Brownster - but the board made a jack-high straight, and they chopped it up. Lucky Mr. Brown.
