Veldhuis Gets Busy

Busy bee

Lex Veldhuis raised to 4,800 and the gentleman in the cutoff called to see a {10-Diamonds} {A-Hearts} {5-Diamonds} flop. Veldhuis bet out 6,800 but eased off the gas hen his opponent called - they both checked the {6-Clubs} turn, and then checked again on the {9-Spades} river. Veldhuis announced, "Nine," and turned over {Q-Clubs} {9-Hearts}. His opponent laughed in a not-amused sort of way and mucked.

A few hands later and we found Veldhuis getting involved again. It looked as though the small blind had raised and Veldhuis had re-popped from the big. Either way, the raise in front of Mr. Small Blind was 14,000 when Veldhuis shoved for what was after some time and considerable dealer effort ascertained to be 102,700.

The small blind now tanked up as a wall of media personnel crowded around the table. Said Veldhuis: "I think you're gonna fold but you don't like it so you want to make me stack all my chips." Then after a moment, "Or you have aces."

Eventually the small blind folded. "Show five-deuce!" shouted a railer, but no-one showed anything. Veldhuis is up to 120,000.
