EPT Barcelona: Day 4

The man to catch, Giuseppe Pantaleo
The man to catch, Giuseppe Pantaleo

Hello and welcome back to the Casino de Barcelona where 24 players will return to their seats, each guaranteed no less than €17,000 but each of the having at least one eye on the massive €825,000 first prize.

Leading the way is the Italian sounding German, Giuseppe Pantaleo who won a huge pot from Kristoffer Thorsson near the close of play yesterday to help him on his way to his ending total of 2,309,000 chips . The action folded to Thorsson and all of a sudden there was a raise, three-bet, four-bet shove and a call! Pantaleo held {k-Spades}{k-Hearts} with Thorsson's hand being {a-Hearts}{10-Clubs}. The board ran out {9-Spades}{9-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{5-Spades} and Pantaleo was the new chip leader.

Hot on his heels is Alessandro Longobardi on 1,863,000 and Thor Stang on 1,447,000 who showed up yesterday with a glittery Batman t-short on, maybe today he will come as another superhero and knock Pantaleo off his perch?

In the middle of the pack is Konstantin Puchkov, who won his first bracelet at this year's WSOP and he will be looking to add an EPT title to his name too. Towards the bottom of the chip counts is Kristoffer Thorsson, who lost the massive pot late on as mentioned above, but if the Swede manages to pick up some chips early on in proceedings, he will be the biggest threat to the rest of the field. As things stand now he really has his work cut out for him, but anything can happen in poker!

Play resumes at 1200 noon and will continue until only the final table of eight players remain. Stay tuned to PokerNews for the very best in live tournament coverage.
