Welcome to Day 4 of the PokerStars.com EPT Tallinn!

Arnaud Mattern
Arnaud Mattern

Twenty-five players remain; twenty-five men each with hopes of taking down the first EPT of Season 7. But who are the favourites?

Going by chips, you'd have to pick Perica Bukara, he's the chip leader with 1,326,000. He final tabled the Unibet Open in Prague last week but this time the Serbian is looking towards an even bigger score.

If you're going by form then Konstantin Bilyaver (1,240,000) is your man, he's been in the right place at the right time, picking up a huge pot late last night when he eliminated Chady Merhej and doubled through Steven van Zadelhoff at the same time. The dealer must have dipped their hands in ice water before the shuffle as we ended up with bottom set vs top and bottom pair vs Bilyaver's middle set which won it all. Can the Russian go all the way?

But if you're a romantic and decide to go by history, then Arnaud Mattern (1,155,000) is surely the one. He's the only remaining EPT champion still in the field and a Mattern win would indeed be a landmark since he would become the first double EPT winner. There's still a long way to go, but he still should be one of favourites.

The rest of the field cannot be dismissed however, WSOP runner-up Ivan Demidov has a solid stack while the talented Johan Storakers and Steven van Zadelhoff also still remain. Who will make the final? Your guess is as good as ours...

Poker Gods Speak to Abrahams

Wow, maybe the coffee at breakfast was extra-super-caffeinated or something, because players have wasted exactly zero time in getting their chips in the middle.

First to bite the all-in bullet today was one of our shortest stacks, young Brit Javed Abrahams. In a very brief blind-on-blind confrontation with Johan Storakers, Abrahams found himself in some considerable trouble with his {a-Hearts}{3-Hearts} in pretty poor shape against Storakers' {3-Diamonds}{3-Spades}. However, the poker gods were with Abrahams, and once the board had come down {j-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}{a-Spades}{10-Diamonds} he doubled to 280,000.

Zavorotnis Nixed

Vitalijs Zavorotnis has not had a good day, but it has been mercifully brief. He found {j-Clubs}{j-Hearts}, but Bassam Elnajjar found {a-Hearts}{a-Spades}. There was a distinct glimmer of hope for him on the {10-Spades}{9-Clubs}{q-Spades} flop, but the {3-Spades} turn and {2-Clubs} river meant that the best hand held up, and Zavorotnis was reduced to just 4,000 chips, or two antes.

He called all in the very next hand to an under-the-gun raise from Mikko Jaatinen. It folded around to big blind Elnajjar who announced, "I feel lucky, can I open my cards?" but eventually Elnajjar folded, and Zavorotnis and Jaatinen went to showdown.

Jaatinen: {j-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}
Zavorotnis: in worse shape than he' had presumably hoped with {4-Clubs}{4-Spades}

Board: {3-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{8-Spades}{5-Hearts}{5-Clubs}

And with that, we were down to 24.

Falorni Doubles at High Volume

By the by, while Zavorotnis was busy busting out, on the next table Simone Falorni was open-shoving in the cutoff and getting called by Nathanael Filskov on the button.

Off to the races.

Falorni: {k-Hearts}{q-Hearts}
Filskov: {8-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}

Board: {k-Clubs}{3-Spades}{q-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{4-Hearts}

"YES! YES!!!" cried Falorni and banged the table. He doubled to 200,000 or so.
