You really have to feel for Javed Abrahams and Johan Storakers. Although their stacks are in the grand scheme of things just kind of middling, they are two shortest stacks at their table - as we mentioned earlier, around three quarters of the chips in play are at their table making them rather less powerful than they might be were they seated at the other table. So no wonder that they're getting a little frustrated.
Just now it folded around to Abrahams in the small blind who took a 60,000 stab at the small pot. But Storakers in the big blind had other plans and went all in, prompting a quick fold and a bit of a scowl from Abrahams, who dropped to 400,000.
Play has slowed to a crawl, with all the short stacks on one table holding on while the big stacks have gotten a little more cautious.
Jonthan Weekes opened to 60,000 from early position but folded when Kevin Stani 3-bet to 145,000 on the button. The deadlock will have to be broken soon though...
Nicolo Calia raised to 52,000 in the cutoff, and small blind Bassam Elnajjar flatted. Then Dmitry Vitkind squeezed to 145,000. In a matter of seconds, Calia moved all in for a total of 347,000, Elnajjar folded, and Vitkind called. Calia's was up against Vitkind's . The board came out , giving Calia a better pair and the double up. He's got 770,000 to sit on now, while Vitkind is left with 370,000.
The small-fish-in-big-pond unhappiness continued for Johan Storakers as he made it 59,000 from the button, only to fold to a big reraise from Perica Bukara in the big blind. Bukara showed him offsuit, although if this made Storakers feel any better he certainly didn't let it show. He dropped a shade further, to 435,000.
Jonathan Weekes opened preflop to 60,000 and next to him, Javed Abrahams pushed all-in for just over 400,000 or so. It was passed around to Arnaud Mattern who thought for a moment before reraising all-in. Weekes passed (as in he folded his cards, not that there was a period of record dwelling time from him).
Abrahams:
Mattern:
The board came and Mattern added another 400,000 to his stack to put him back over the 2 million mark, he's now up to almost 2.2 million.
Mikko Jaatinen pushed all-in for 336,000 from the cutoff before Igor Ivashkiv reraised all-in behind him on the button.
Jaatinen:
Ivashkiv:
The flop did not give Jaatinen much of a sniff, but the turn gave him a couple more outs, and the while giving Ivashkiv a set, made a straight for Jaatinen to double up to 700,000. Ivashkiv dropped to 485,000.
...Because they don't go to the gallery page unless we stick them in a post.
With all of the big stacks at one table and all of the short stacks at the other, it's very hard for pots to develop. We haven't seen a showdown in awhile. Dmitry Vitkind is shoving his short stack most of the times it folds to him, but so far, no one has picked up a hand to call with. Arnaud Mattern on the other table is raising many hands, picking up the blinds and folding to three-bets in equal measure.
