A Lot Can Happen in Five Minutes

They've hit the ground running here in the Kursalon, but some have made a beeline for the exit. Michael Schürpf's {9-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} lost an all-in preflop race against {A-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds} (which he had to find out after it was done and dusted - he stood with his back to the table while all five cards were dealt including the {A-Spades}) while we're not sure what happened to Jens Weigl but he was spotted getting up from his seat and walking slowly away.

Better news for Alain Medesan supporters - the chatty Romanian, who yesterday had no fewer than three of his fellow Romanians on his table, has doubled up to over 40k. He moved in on the button when it folded round with {K-Diamonds}{10-Spades}, and big blind Charles Combes asked how much it was before making the call with {A-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}. The board ran out {10-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{7-Spades}{6-Diamonds} pairing Medesan's Ten and giving him a little breathing room.

"When you instacall you win this," he said. "You can't think about it!"

Medesan's previous EPT best result is 4th at Snowfest - he'll be looking to better his record at this second Austrian venue.
