Arnaud Luck Shifting Caller

Level 10 : 600/1,200, 100 ante
Arnaud Mattern
Arnaud Mattern

The end of the line has been reached by Team PokerStars Pro Arnaud Mattern - after a super-grind yesterday he'd climbed back to starting stack (30,000) and beyond. But it all went to the "Italian player in the big blind." The story straight from the horse's mouth is one of preflop limping on the small blind after one other preflop limper with {8-Spades}{7-Spades}. The big blind checked and they saw a three-way flop of {9-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{3-}. Mattern led for 2,500, called by the big blind but not the limper.

The turn was a non-diamond {4-}. Out bet Mattern once again - this time 6,500. Call from the big blind.

The river: {8-Diamonds}. Now Mattern shoved all-in (22,000) and sent the big blind into the tank. After several minutes he made the call, and his {Q-}{10-} was good.

Michael Aron

PokerStars qualifier Michael Aron is continuing to accumulate chips in a similar vein to yesterday, Ignat Liviu George just pushed all-in over the top of the American's bet on an {A-Hearts} {4-Diamonds} {3-Diamonds} flop getting an instant call from Aron's {A-Clubs} {K-Spades} which was ahead of George's {A-Diamonds} {8-Spades} before and after the {J-Spades} turn and {2-Spades} river.

All Shak Up

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Samir Shaktoor hates poker right now.

The Swede has been eliminated in a way so cruel, it'll make you wince even as you're sitting in your seat back home. Shaktoor had been dealt his cards but one was exposed as a {K-} and he received a replacement card.

Shaktoor then proceeded to get his stack in with {A-Hearts} {K-Hearts} against Dean Thompson's {Q-Diamonds} {Q-Hearts} with the board coming {6-Diamonds} {10-Spades} {7-Diamonds} {10-Diamonds} {3-Clubs}...Yes the {A-Hearts} was his replacement card and Shaktoor would've no doubt doubled up with kings against queens instead of losing the flip. He hit the rail, bitterly disappointed.

Lone Canadian Forges Ahead

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 100 ante
Xuan Liu
Xuan Liu

Xuan Liu is building her stack up this first level, most recently taking down a juicy pot with no showdown... A short stack had limped under the gun, and next to him she made it 3,800. One caller later and the button raised to 9,900. The utg limper folded but Liu moved in (49,400 total). This proved too rich for both the other caller and, finally, the three-bettor.

Unexpected Timebank of the Day

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Spotting an all-in microstack like some kind of hovering media vulture, I waited beside John Norberg as his 8,400 lay over the line in a little pile. This represented an all in three-bet facing Damien Gautier (who'd made it 2,600 next to him). Gautier thought about it, and thought about it (playing around a 30k stack) and finally someone on his table called the clock on him. He passed.
